Independent Korean trailblazer The Deep has officially released KPOP B!TCH, her long-anticipated debut album and first full-length project since her emergence in 2019. Spanning ten tracks, KPOP B!TCH dives headfirst into her signature fusion of 2000s-inspired electro-synth-pop and flashes of Korean hyper-pop—an evolution of the hybrid sound she has been cultivating for years. Free of features and packed with personality, the record pushes her underground-forward aesthetic into its most refined form yet, merging pop-centric hooks with the grit, color, and eccentricity that have defined her rise.
The album arrives on the heels of her standout performance at STANDARD SEONGSU Vol.3 in Seoul, where she shared the stage with global names like Lancey Foux, Thaiboy Digital, and Effie. Featuring production from American hyper-pop duo Frost Children, Dorian Electra, South Korean producer-artist kimj, and others, the project embodies a cross-cultural exchange, creatively steered by executive producer The Deep herself. Its release signals a shift in the hyper-commercialized Korean music system—a moment where independent, artist-first voices are beginning to redefine the landscape. It also follows a string of buzzy singles, including “Lucky Star,” “KPOP B!TCH,” her collaborative track “MY UNNIES” with kimj, SEBii, and Effie, and her remix of f5ve’s “Magic Clock” with kimj.
Since her early singles “Muah!” and “BAPPI,” The Deep has become one of Korea’s most exciting underground exports, blending UK garage, Y2K aesthetics, and electronic pop into something distinctly outside mainstream K-pop conventions. While the K-pop industry remains one of the world’s most structured entertainment machines, a new parallel ecosystem has emerged—one built by independent Korean artists cultivating global followings through digital communities, DIY creativity, and self-driven storytelling. Alongside collaborators like Effie, kimj, and 9lives, The Deep stands at the forefront of this movement.
Her bond with her listeners is central to her identity. She frequently interacts directly with fans, offering glimpses into her process and inviting them into her visual world. Her independence extends far beyond the music—she handles her own mixing, artwork, video editing, merch design, and even the layout of her physical albums. Through this self-contained, highly personal creative ecosystem, she continues to reshape what K-pop can look and feel like.
Her 2024 EP Electric Pink expanded her global footprint and led to collaborations with DPR ARTIC, kimj, Effie, and 9lives. She has opened for f5ve in Osaka, performed at SXSW London, and appeared at events with YETI OUT, scr radio, and Eastern Margins. Her releases have earned recognition across Korean and international platforms—“Messy Room” landed on the Genius Korea Editorial Playlist, while “BAPPI” appeared in Clash magazine’s 25 Best Female K-pop Songs of 2023. Her work has also been spotlighted in PAPER and Vogue France, further positioning her as one of the leading voices in Korea’s independent music renaissance.
With KPOP B!TCH, The Deep sets a new benchmark for DIY-driven artistry in Korea—bold, self-defined, and unmistakably hers.
