For Kidoo, the best tracks do not necessarily come from the most elaborate studio setups. Sometimes, they come from a kitchen counter, a portable speaker, and a pair of headphones. That hands-on approach has helped shape the Romanian producer’s sound, and it is now at the center of his debut release on Factory 93 Records, the three-track ‘Beat Boyz’ EP.
Based in Cluj-Napoca, Kidoo has spent more than a decade developing an instinct for the dancefloor. He first began playing in Romania’s club circuit at just 12-years-old, learning early on how to read a room and adjust his sets to the energy in front of him. That experience continues to influence his production style, with each track built around movement, groove, and the kind of low-end pressure designed for a club system.
The EP’s title track, “Beat Boyz,” establishes that approach immediately. The minimal tech roller is built around heavy bass, tightly programmed drums, and a persistent groove that keeps the track moving without overcomplicating the arrangement. G-coded West Coast rap lyricism weaves through the production while squelching acid textures and muttering vocal elements add a gritty edge.
Rather than relying on excessive layers, Kidoo lets the groove do much of the work. The result is a stripped-back production that still carries plenty of character, balancing hypnotic percussion with detailed sonic textures.
“This release came naturally. It’s always been an instinct of mine to create bouncy tracks with powerful basslines. I’ve found that a good kitchen counter, a portable speaker, and a set of headphones often create better tracks than a professional studio.” – Kidoo
That philosophy carries through the rest of the ‘Beat Boyz’ EP, with “Nusco” and “Spin” completing the three-track release. Drawing from the sounds and club culture of Romania, the productions maintain Kidoo’s focus on groove and movement while keeping the dancefloor firmly in mind. Each track was also tested throughout his sets for months, giving the EP a practical club foundation before its official release.
The release adds another chapter to a productive run that dates back to 2018. Among Kidoo’s notable releases is “Mezcal Bounce,” his collaboration with SOSA, which has surpassed 1.22 million streams and reached the No. 1 position on Beatport’s Minimal / Deep Tech Hype chart. His music has also received support from underground heavyweights including Pawsa, Dennis Cruz, Michael Bibi, Jamie Jones, Mochakk, Luciano, Marco Carola, and The Martinez Brothers.
His growing reputation behind the decks has continued to push Kidoo beyond his home country as well. He recently made his Space Miami Terrace debut supporting Joseph Capriati, with appearances at Hocus Pocus at Factory Town and TRMNL Summer Street Party also on his schedule.
Looking further ahead, Kidoo will join Carl Cox for headline support dates at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles and Radius Chicago in November. He also has upcoming headline appearances at HAMA SAKÉ Beach Club and Vertigo Toronto.
With the ‘Beat Boyz’ EP, Kidoo brings together the instincts he has developed since his teenage years in the Romanian club scene with a production style centered on bass, bounce, and stripped-back grooves. His debut on Factory 93 Records is a fitting showcase for an artist who understands that sometimes the simplest ingredients can create the strongest dancefloor reaction.
