Australian artist and producer JVLY continues to build anticipation for his upcoming SUNDERLUXE EP with a new remix of “SOUTH” by Sydney-based project Mel Blue. The EP, set to expand on JVLY’s 2025 SUNDER EP, features a remix of each original track plus an unreleased B-side from the SUNDER sessions, offering fans a deeper, more immersive look into his evolving sound.
Known for their emotive and genre-fluid approach to electronic music, Mel Blue reimagines “SOUTH” into a warmer, more introspective version. Trading peak-time energy for patient textures and emotional depth, their remix emphasizes spacious grooves, softened percussion, and a hazy sense of movement, making it perfectly suited for late-night listening.
Following previous remixes from Contrecoeur (France) and Lemonade Baby (Brisbane), the Mel Blue take broadens the sonic palette of SUNDERLUXE, delivering a version that feels both intimate and expansive while adding a fresh dimension to the EP’s world.
JVLY shares: “I’ve been a big fan of Mel Blue for a while now, so when I heard they were into ‘SOUTH’ and keen to do their own version, I was so hyped. Their stuff always has this beautiful mix of soul and nostalgia and energy that I knew they would bring to the track. ‘SOUTH’ is about these repeated loops we can get ourselves stuck in sometimes, and their remix just hit me when I first heard it because it nailed that feeling in such a fresh way. To me, it sort of feels like something you’d hear in Trainspotting, that vintage UK sound I love, but at the same time it’s super forward-thinking, and it just has this nostalgic feeling that perfectly hits what I was trying to capture with this song.”
Mel Blue adds: “We love ‘SOUTH’ by JVLY and were so stoked we got to work on it. The original feels to us like a moody reflection on needing to be more honest with yourself and in a relationship. We wanted to take our rework of the track to a place where this realization would feel like acceptance. We wanted to focus on the joy that comes with growing.”
