In a striking convergence of cinematic legacy and modern electronic production, Juno Reactor (aka Ben Watkins) returns with a powerful new remix of “Mona Lisa Overdrive,” reimagined by Reaky Reakson. Originally composed for The Matrix Reloaded, the track is released today as a standalone single, bridging generations of electronic music and film scoring.

“The track has always held a special place for me, as it was the very first piece I was asked to write for ‘The Matrix Reloaded,’” says Ben Watkins. “Reaky has given it a fresh intensity and perspective that feels both respectful and boldly new. To hear it now, years later, transformed through someone else’s passion and imagination, is a rare and rewarding thing. I hope you enjoy this new version as much as I have enjoyed thundering it out to dance crowds.”

The release follows the recent premiere of Inside The Matrix, an immersive live experience by Juno Reactor at the Tenerife Noir Festival. The performance integrates projected scenes from The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, celebrating the enduring cultural impact of The Matrix universe created by The Wachowskis.

Originally composed for the film’s iconic freeway chase sequence, “Mona Lisa Overdrive” fused orchestral intensity with tribal rhythms and relentless propulsion, becoming a defining example of Juno Reactor’s forward-thinking approach to scoring science fiction cinema.

Now, Reaky Reakson steps into that legacy with a fearless reinterpretation. Known for his explosive production style, he reshapes the track into a high-impact fusion of precision techno energy and cinematic scale. Driving percussion, razor-edged synths, and layered tension elevate the original composition into a modern club-ready form while preserving its epic foundation.

Rather than revisiting the past, the remix amplifies it—pushing the track’s core elements into a new dimension designed for contemporary dancefloors. The result is a seamless collision of orchestral grandeur and electronic intensity, capturing both the spirit of the original and the evolution of the genre.

For Juno Reactor, the release stands as both tribute and transformation, reaffirming the timeless nature of their work while embracing reinterpretation across generations. With Inside The Matrix reigniting global interest in the franchise’s sonic identity, this new version of “Mona Lisa Overdrive” arrives at a moment that feels both timely and essential—an electrifying dialogue between past and future, driven by two artists united in their pursuit of sonic impact.
