Breakout producer James Mac continues his meteoric rise with the release of “Truth,” a gripping Afro house anthem out now on Insomniac Records. Seamlessly merging Afro-centric grooves with tech house grit and UK rap swagger, the France-based Australian producer delivers a genre-defying track poised to ignite both intimate dancefloors and massive summer festivals.
A masterclass in rhythm and restraint, “Truth” rides a pulsating, round kick paired with sizzling tribal percussion and crisp, syncopated shakers. Above the percussive foundation, a hypnotic four-note synth line spins a web of tension, while raw, unapologetic UK rap vocals add a gritty realism to the track’s simmering energy. The result is a brooding yet electrifying piece of club music that evolves like a living organism—minimal in structure but massive in impact.
“The idea behind the track was to combine a couple of different musical styles—a very tech house bassline with a more Afro house vibe coming from the drums,” says James Mac. “And, most importantly, incorporate the UK/drill-style vocal. Bringing these three key elements together to make a dance floor-oriented track.”
Whether booming through a club system at peak hour or rattling speakers in a car at sunset, “Truth” thrives on its versatility. Mac himself describes it as “produced to pop—whether it is in the car or on the dancefloor,” emphasizing the universal appeal of his latest release.
Now based in France, James Mac has quickly become a key player in the global house scene, hosting his own club night at the legendary Amnesia Cap d’Agde, where he’s played alongside heavyweights like FISHER, Cloonee, DJ Snake, and Francis Mercier. His breakout 2023 smash “The Boy Is Mine” amassed nearly 90 million streams and held the #1 spot on Beatport’s Afro House chart for four consecutive months, earning support from tastemakers like Keinemusik, MoBlack, and Layton Giordani.
With international tour dates across Asia, India, Australia, and the USA slated for 2025, James Mac shows no signs of slowing down. His debut on Insomniac Records with “Truth” marks yet another major milestone as he continues to push boundaries and shape the sound of global house music.
James Mac’s “Truth” is out now on all streaming platforms via Insomniac Records.
