JAEL, the Amsterdam-based producer and DJ, is set to release his highly anticipated EP, Motion Sickness, on January 31st via Mena Muria Records. The EP offers a unique blend of garage, 140, and deep bass, encapsulating a dynamic spectrum of UK bass sounds. This marks a significant moment in JAEL’s evolving journey through the world of bass music, coinciding with his performance alongside UKG hero Sammy Virji at London’s O2 Academy in Brixton on the same day.

JAEL, whose real name is Giovanni Jano, describes the EP as a return to his musical roots. He explains,
“Motion Sickness is a return to my roots—a 4-track journey into the pulse of UK bass and garage. This EP isn’t just music; it’s a reconnection with the sounds I grew up on, reimagined through a fresh lens. I can’t wait for you to hear my new sounds!”

The focus track, ‘Motion Sickness’, showcases JAEL’s signature skippy, sub-heavy UKG beats, paired with lyrical contributions from Ghanaian-born rapper Michael Ekow. The EP also features the impactful ‘D33P’, a dubstep-inspired track that made waves in JAEL’s sets in late 2024. Other standout tracks include the wobbly bassline-driven ‘Rude Boy’ and the anthemic ‘You Be There’, a leftfield garage anthem anchored around a flickering, gated vocal sample.

Having transitioned from an R&B artist to an electronic producer, JAEL’s music carries a soulful depth influenced by his upbringing in a household filled with Moluccan Folk, Gospel, Soul, Funk, and Japanese Funk. His genre-blending sound has earned him international recognition, with performances at major festivals like London’s Boiler Room Festival (AMS) and O2 Brixton. He’s also made a name for himself with his show, CAROUSEL JAEL, on Rinse FM.

JAEL’s debut album, Half As Much, and his collaboration with Juls on ‘Close to Me’, featuring Wizkid and Agent Sasco, helped solidify his place in the global music scene. With Motion Sickness, JAEL continues to push boundaries, cementing his status as one of the most exciting new talents in the world of bass music.

The EP is available on all platforms starting January 31st, setting the stage for a pivotal year ahead as JAEL continues to redefine his sound.
