Have you ever wanted to participate in open dialogue with artists during the sound creation process? New York is holding an event brought together by a collaboration of six curators to explore the creation of wild electronic sounds and they want you to be there.
INTERZONE New York, a jam-packed four-day electronic music festival held on October 17-20, 2019, will provide a forum for attendees and artists to explore, create and discuss alterations of techno, electro, industrial and wave in all forms hoping to provide a creative and exploratory event that goes deeper into the importance of sound discovery.
Spanning several New York venues including the Bossa Nova Civic Club, the Good Room, and the Brooklyn Bazaar, events at this festival will focus on the curator’s specific artistic areas of expertise for the purpose of creating a community to enhance INTERZONE. This weekend of auditory experiences covering day and evening programs and lead by the mastermind curators; Confused House, Lost Soul Enterprises, Nothing Changes, Quo Vadis, Synthicide and Weird Science, will include many live performances, panel discussions, late night parties, short films, sculpture and workshops to meet every desire.
Thursday night starts in the Bossa Nova Civic Club, an intimate house and techno venue that will encourage the intention of the event featuring Davide Gualandi (known for his psychedelic sounds), MAEDON (live), Shawn O’Sullivan (electronic eclecticism and modular synthesis) and Katie Rex (BOUND NYC, featuring underground progressive sounds with “industrial sonic landscapes” and throbbing baselines keeping it tight) from 10pm-4am.
Friday’s program starts at the Brooklyn Bazaar with Xarah Dion (live); (cold wave industrial and techno performance artist), Physical Wash (live); (Susan Subtract’s solo project of “electro-punk”, industrial and body music), Kontraviod (live) and Autumns (live); (known for his “high-intensity, DIY punk angst” shows. Day 2 continues in the Brooklyn Bazar’s Disco Room with San Francisco’s Black Lodge Crew (hosts to events where raw underground vinyl is shared like samizdat) presenting Force Placement (underground electronic house music ) and Kosmik (founder of the Black Lodge) back to back. Closing Friday’s performances is Lost souls’/Synthicide’s club program in Good Room featuring Not Waving (live), Crash Course in Science (live), Lokier, Pasiphae, and Sybil Jason followed by Dungeon Acid (live) , MX Silkman, and MYN b2b R Gamble.
On Saturday the Good Room boasts a day program and opens the event with panel discussions with Base Camp Beta. Night events include Weird Science’s 4pm-12am jam with OKO DJ, SPSS (live), Robert Valera (live) and Amourette b2b MSCLN at Magick City, Nothing Changes’ 8pm-12am event presenting Void Vision (live), Statiqbloom (live), Nghtcrwlr (live) and TBA, and Lost Soul Enterprises’ all night party from 10pm-6am with Veronika Vasicka, Jensen Interceptor, Galaxian (live), Bezier (live), Rose E Kross, L. Sangre, Nihal Ramchandani, Heidi Sabertooth (live) and Scallywag.
An equally impressive Sunday lineup includes IZ Cinema presenting short films and a live performance by ESPTV and three more evening programs from running from 4 pm-4 am with artists Kiernan Laveaux, J.A.Z. and Maroje T presented by Weird Science; Blacklauren, Abby Echiverri, Hiro Kone, and Samuel Kerridge presented by Quo Vadis and Confused House’s Leila Bordreuil, Wetware, Via App, Ciarra Black, Drew McDowell, Dreamcrusher and Alex from Queens close out this packed weekend.
