To be in one’s element means to be in a place of peace and comfort within. The In My Elements: Fall Edition 2020 retreat aims to bring attendees to a place where they can feel free, safe, and at peace during a tumultuous time in modern history– to bring us into our elements, whatever that means for us. With only 225 available tickets, the retreat brings the promise of an intimate camping experience, unlike many others. In My Elements will take place during the weekend of September 25-28, 2020, which is when Elements Music and Arts Festival was originally rescheduled after postponing their usual Memorial Weekend dates due to Covid-19. The open-air retreat promises socially distanced sun salutations, meditation, art classes, water sports, and forested adventures for all to enjoy. The line up is a House and Techno lovers dream, with headliners like Wax Motif, Soul Clap (Eli), and Sacha Robotti, featuring a Desert Hearts take over by Lee Reynolds and Porky.
Brooklyn-based production company BangOn! has committed to the same safety measures taken at the In My Elements July retreat, where they successfully reported 0 cases of Covid-19 following the event. BangOn!’s innovative approach centered around safety above all else, with two-part Covid-19 testing and additional safety measures while onsite. For In My Elements: Fall Edition, organizers are utilizing local testing sites for retreaters to find ahead of time instead of only relying on shipped tests, therefore reducing the Fall ticket price for some by $150. Although In My Elements is not required to test attendees by Government or regulatory agencies, the organizers were committed to ensuring this open-air retreat would be safe for all attendees, volunteers, and artists alike. By fostering an environment where safety has been prioritized, festival-goers can be at ease while wandering the forest, groovin’ to the music, exploring artistic talents, and finding their path to their own elements.
The July Edition of In My Elements received quite a lot of apprehension online, from long-time Elements Music and Arts Festival veterans to distant onlookers who had never heard of the event until 2020. For the Fall Edition, some are still turning up their noses, but many appear to welcome the success of the first event as a green light for the retreat to continue. The question remains, will BangOn! reign victorious once again, proving that we can return back to festivals as long as the right precautions are followed? Or was the flame ignited by false hope, soon to be washed, blown, or smashed away by competing elements? Only time will tell in the weeks following the open air retreat.
