Iceland Airwaves Unveils Second Wave of Artists for 25th Anniversary Edition

by Press Release

Iceland Airwaves returns to Downtown Reykjavik from November 7 – 9, 2024, celebrating its monumental 25th Anniversary with an exciting new wave of artist announcements. Ticket and travel packages are now available for what promises to be one of the festival’s most remarkable editions yet.

Topping the latest round of lineup additions is Overmono, the acclaimed Welsh electronic music duo comprised of brothers Tom and Ed Russell. Known for their electrifying live sets and fresh off the success of their 2023 album Good Lies, Overmono will be bringing their cutting-edge sounds to the festival’s diverse musical landscape.

In a different genre but with equally high energy, The Vaccines, one of England’s most beloved indie rock bands, will also take the stage. With a catalog full of anthems, The Vaccines are set to deliver a dynamic, unforgettable performance.

The festival lineup spans across genres, and this year sees the inclusion of Alice Longyu Gao, a New York-based Chinese hyper-pop artist known for her high-energy performances and genre-blending creativity. Also joining is the mysterious Lynks, a British dance-pop artist famous for their eccentric masked performances and self-empowering, joyful shows.

Newcomers making waves in their scenes include English Teacher, the rising indie-rock band from Leeds, and Dutch collective Personal Trainer, who have been impressing audiences with their catchy, rhythmic indie rock.

On the punk front, the raw energy of Benefits, a DIY band from Teesside known for their politically charged lyrics, will be matched by the post-punk sounds of cumgirl8 from New York and the fiery Lambrini Girls from Brighton. Another highlight comes from Wu-Lu, the South London multi-instrumentalist known for his genre-defying style and innovative production.

Iceland Airwaves also shines a spotlight on homegrown Icelandic talent, with performances by Gabríel Ólafs, a renowned Icelandic pianist and composer signed to Decca Records, and rising pop sensation Elín Hall, whose collaboration with The Vaccines’ Árni Hjörvar has been met with critical acclaim.

Celebrating 25 years of music, culture, and innovation, the festival remains committed to promoting gender-balanced lineups through its partnership with Keychange, a pledge Iceland Airwaves has honored since 2018. The festival continues to champion new talent and foster a diverse creative community, ensuring this year’s edition is as groundbreaking as ever.

In addition to the artist performances, festival-goers can look forward to the acclaimed industry panels, keynotes, and networking events, with more details on special performances and collaborations to be announced soon.
