Sydney-based Hydraulix and Denver producer Chef Boyarbeatz join forces on “RUDEBOi,” a deep dubstep hybrid that merges their experimental bass sensibilities into a singular, hard-hitting track. Out December 12th on Bassrush Records, the collaboration fuses grime-soaked textures, UK bass influences, and both artists’ foundations in 140 and breakbeat rhythms, creating a sound that coils and uncoils with deliberate chaos.
“RUDEBOi” unfolds like a pressure chamber on the edge of collapse—radar-blip motifs dart across the stereo field, breakbeats strike with mechanical precision, and guttural call-and-response patterns emerge from the subfloor. The track balances Hydraulix’s unpredictable low-end mutations with Chef Boyarbeatz’s UK-inspired wonk, resulting in a rare fusion that foregrounds both artists’ experimental instincts while carving its own sonic territory.
Speaking on the collaboration, Hydraulix says, “I’ve always loved Chef’s sound, so finding the track where both our styles really met in the middle was a special moment. This one feels like us. And to release it with Bassrush is really something special.”
Chef Boyarbeatz adds, “This one has been a staple in my sets since it was finished. I have really enjoyed playing it out and I’m happy it found a home with Bassrush!”
The single arrives during a period of momentum for both producers. Hydraulix continues to make waves internationally with his genre-blurring debut album Imposter Syndrome and collaborations with artists like Hekler, ATLiens, and Leotrix, earning support from Skrillex, Four Tet, Peggy Gou, Zeds Dead, and Excision. “RUDEBOi” also marks a return to Bassrush, following his 2022 release on The Prophecy: Volume 6 with “Brain Damage” alongside SUAHN.
Meanwhile, Chef Boyarbeatz has solidified his presence on the American underground scene, blending heavy breaks, dubstep fundamentals, and UK influences. His recent Bassrush releases, including Squidward’s Revenge and the collaborative Frontin’ two-tracker with MYTHM, have further established his experimental narrative, drawing attention from tastemakers such as Skream, Zeds Dead, Of The Trees, and Ternion Sound. He is currently touring his headline show, The Last Recipe, across major venues in the U.S.
“RUDEBOi” represents the culmination of a long-standing creative dialogue between Hydraulix and Chef Boyarbeatz, achieving a balance of grime influence, warped bass, and off-kilter rhythmic interplay that positions it as a standout moment in Bassrush’s experimental dubstep catalog.
Hydraulix and Chef Boyarbeatz’s “RUDEBOi” is available now on all platforms via Bassrush Records.
