Multidisciplinary artist Hyd (Hayden Dunham) has announced a new album, Hold Onto Me Infinity, arriving May 22 via Cascine. Moving fluidly between the intimate and the cosmic, the record explores music’s ability to transcend time, physical boundaries, and even mortality—occupying a space between the tangible world and something beyond it.
Alongside the announcement, Hyd has released the new single “Angel,” produced by Hudson Mohawke, a key collaborator on the project. Written by Hayden Dunham and Benny Long, the track reflects on loss and transformation, imagining a loved one who has passed away as a guiding presence. The song introduces a central question that resonates throughout the album: where do the dead go, and how do we continue to experience them in new forms?
The single arrives with a visually striking music video directed by Tourmaline, with creative direction from Bobbi Salvor Menuez, movement direction by Monica Mirabile, editing by Hedia Maron, and cinematography by Aimee Goguen. Together, the visual collaborators create a surreal yet emotionally grounded interpretation of the song’s themes.
Sonically, Hold Onto Me Infinity emphasizes a tactile listening experience. The album features a drum-forward palette designed to resonate physically with listeners, encouraging them to feel the music as much as hear it. That emphasis on physical sensation also extends to the album artwork, photographed by Michael Bailey Gates. The cover was created without artificial effects, combining a glass sculpture by Hayden Dunham, pyrotechnics, mirrors, and natural sunset light to form a portal-like composition that reflects the album’s themes of liminality and transformation.
This analog approach was partly shaped by Dunham’s personal journey. Over the past seven years, they have experienced intermittent vision loss, making them highly sensitive to artificial light. The condition profoundly altered their sensory perception—leading to heightened awareness of other senses and a deeper connection to the physical body when their vision returned.
Hold Onto Me Infinity follows Hyd’s acclaimed debut album CLEARING and continues to draw from Dunham’s broader multidisciplinary practice. Beyond music, their work as a visual artist has been exhibited at institutions including MoMA PS1 and the New Museum, with a forthcoming exhibition set to open April 30 at Company Gallery in New York.
With Hold Onto Me Infinity, Hyd expands their artistic universe once again, weaving sound, physical experience, and visual storytelling into a deeply immersive body of work.
