Hulaween | The Perfect Mix of Jam and EDM

by The Freaks - Staff

If you know me, you are aware that my favorite festivals are the ones that have a myriad of genres, art, and creative crowds to lose myself in, while potentially finding more of my true self. I had the great pleasure of attending Suwannee Hulaween in 2018, and let me tell you… this festival is perfect. It has the perfect mix of Jam Bands and Electronic Music while hosting the incredible art area that is Spirit Lake. For a festival-goer who has recently acquired an affinity for Jam Bands due to my experience at last year’s Hulaween… (Thank you Cheese) I must say I am having absolute FOMO over this lineup. I am obviously Space Cheeta Approved, and so this looks like a full send.

Obviously Cheese will be the highlight with three total sets, but my personal favorites STS9 (or as most fans in the know lovingly call them, Tribe) will no doubt put on a show for the ages. Last year, in my opinion, they were the standout along with Cheese for the entire festival. Umphrey’s McGee and Lettuce, round out the list of notable jammy music that lovers of this genre will certainly not miss. Umphrey’s recent show in Indianapolis was a massive hit, and so were the super laid back vibes of that show. I absolutely cannot wait to see them again. Last year I witnessed actual heads of lettuce being thrown in the crowd for Lettuce’s set. Such a playful and fun memory. Greensky Bluegrass and Pigeons Playing Ping Pong have alluded me thus far, and I look forward to giving them my full attention at this year’s edition.

So while yes we are primarily an Electronic Music geared source for information, you can expect far more Jam Band articles from your favorite Rave Mom at Fresh Music Freaks. Already praying for that miracle to occur for my return to Suwannee. It truly is that magical. It is, after all, the Electric Forest of the South. Seriously, someone PLEASE take me with you, and let me know your favorite band I may have missed in the comments, and check out my curated Jam Band Playlist above. I’m always eager to learn more.
