Henry Fong returns with a groove-heavy summer anthem in “That Sound”, out June 6 via Dim Mak. The single marks a bold evolution in sound for the genre-blending producer, merging the nostalgia of classic disco with the energy of modern bass house.
Built around soulful vocal samples and funky guitar licks, “That Sound” is polished and powerful, balancing timeless dancefloor vibes with cutting-edge production. The track’s bass-heavy drop and subtle UK garage swing in the drums add a fresh groove to its retro-inspired foundation.
“This track started with a classic disco sample,” shares Fong. “I sat around working on this for years but never nailed the version until recently. I wanted to make a fun, summery record that still had that signature bass house energy—it even has a hint of UKG in the drums which gives it a fun groove.”
The track also serves as the lead single from Fong’s upcoming Night Market EP on Dim Mak, a project rooted in the spirit of his Night Market event series in Los Angeles and Orange County. These events blend Asian street food culture with dance music, setting the tone for a release that’s as flavorful as it is high-energy.
With “That Sound”, Henry Fong delivers a vibrant, genre-crossing banger that celebrates groove, grit, and global rhythm—just in time for summer dancefloors.
