Electronic trailblazer GRYFFIN is kicking off his PULSE: PHASE 2 Tour with a powerful new collaboration, unveiling a 2025 remix of Band of Horses’ iconic anthem “The Funeral”—out now via Sub Pop Records.
Originally released in 2006, “The Funeral” remains a cornerstone of indie rock history. Its haunting lyrics and unforgettable melody have made it the most celebrated track in Band of Horses’ catalog, soundtracking countless moments across film, TV, and the cultural zeitgeist. Now, nearly two decades later, GRYFFIN revives the track with a modern, electronic twist—infusing his signature progressive style while staying faithful to the emotional soul of the original.
The new version breathes new life into the beloved classic, transforming its indie introspection into a festival-ready anthem with surging basslines, four-on-the-floor percussion, and cinematic builds that speak to GRYFFIN’s deep-rooted love for indie-electronic fusion.
“Anyone who’s followed me since day one knows how much indie music and my early SoundCloud remixes shaped my sound,” says GRYFFIN. “Late last year, I rediscovered ‘The Funeral’, and it immediately took me back to that era. In less than 24 hours, I flipped it and sent it to the band.”

Meanwhile, Band of Horses are gearing up for a 25-date U.S. summer tour, including appearances at Spoleto Festival, Maha Festival, Borderland Festival, and international stops in Norway.
