Global Dub Festival 2019 | ‘Tis the Season for Red Rocks

by The Freaks - Staff

Watch out Red Rocks–Global Dub Festival 2019 is gonna give you a rude awakening!

Come May, Global Dub Festival 2019 will signal the end of winter and the start of Red Rocks season.  Ever since Global Dub’s sold-out debut in 2012, Colorado’s historic Red Rocks Park & Amphitheater wakes from its winter slumber with booming bass and colorful laser beams.  Red Rocks season spans the summer months when the amphitheater’s calendar is packed with shows almost every night. Since it’s an outdoor venue in a state with cooler winters, Red Rocks remains relatively quiet between late October and early May.

On May 18th, Global Dub Festival 2019 will be ringing in the season with iconic duo Adventure Club and Denver-grown DJ Bear Grillz.  This will be Bear Grillz’s first time headlining Red Rocks.  We can expect a stellar set for his celebration of this moment! Included in the lineup is another Denver local, Said The Sky.  He tore apart Beta Nightclub’s Final Future Thursday event earlier this month!  There will also be performances by Riot Ten, Dirt Monkey, Kai Wachi, Kompany b2b Tynan, and YAKZ b2b Somnium Sound.

Global Dub Festival is a favorite gathering for dubstep lovers in Colorado.  Flux Pavilion headlined in 2012, its first year, which was around the time he was releasing chart-topping tracks.  Songs such as “I Can’t Stop” and “Bass Cannon” are known as EDM classics! The event was such a hit that Red Rocks sold out all 9,525 seats again for Global Dub Festival 2013.

Last year was my first time attending Global Dub Festival, and the visuals kept a smile on my face the whole night.  There was everything from fire to crisp lights illuminating the red sandstone surrounding the amphitheater. The differing sounds of Ganja White Night and Zomboy as headliners catered to a whole spectrum of dubstep fans.  Global Dub Festival 2019 attendees can expect the same level of variety with the melodic dubstep of Adventure Club and the heavy, headbanging dubstep of Bear Grillz.  Last year was rainy. It was cold. But the artists played such enrapturing sets that I didn’t notice how drenched I was until close to the end.

People who plan to attend Global Dub Festival 2019 should take note: plan for all types of weather!  May in Colorado can range from sunny 65 degree days to frigid blizzards. Rain, snow, or shine, Global Dub Festival brings vibrant, high-energy sets that keep the crowd moving.
