The single’s release is accompanied by a new music video, and it comes with the exciting news that Glass Animals‘global hit “Heat Waves” has earned RIAA Diamond Certification, making it the 15th Diamond alternative song ever and the first by an international band to achieve this milestone.
I Love You So F***ing Much delves into the multifaceted nature of love. “A Tear In Space (Airlock)” examines a love so consuming that it forces one to lose their sense of self, becoming almost invisible in the process. This track addresses themes of control, dominance, and the paradoxical pleasure and pain of surrendering to another’s desires. The album explores vast themes of scale and perspective—what is a tear in space? A seemingly insignificant droplet that becomes a vast galaxy when viewed from a different perspective. With its retro-futuristic production, the album navigates the shapelessness of love, expanding from a teardrop in an airlock to an entire universe.
Directors Taylor Fauntleroy and Drew Kirsch discussed the creation of the video for “A Tear In Space (Airlock).” Originally sparked by Dave’s idea of being in a wind tunnel with objects thrown at him, they had to adapt to avoid potential dangers. The video aims to visually represent the emotional experience of the song, illustrating the struggle of trying to connect with someone who resists, pulling and stretching until identity is lost. Dave adds, “The roses, the dining table, the candles, and the suit symbolize love and care, all set against a cold, scientific machine made of blades that destroy. The closer you get, the faster the blades, peeling layers off until nothing remains.”
In April, Glass Animals announced their extensive 44-date world tour, Human Music Group Sensations Glass Animals: TOUR OF EARTH. This tour will take the band across North America, Europe, and the UK, starting in the US this August and ending at London’s The O2 Arena on November 7th. The tour will feature the band headlining their largest venues yet, including iconic locations such as Madison Square Garden in New York and The Gorge Amphitheatre in Seattle.
