The return of Gem & Jam was highly anticipated in the festival world. We have been treated to an impressive phase one back in September and everyone has been absolutely begging for the second phase drop! THE WAIT IS OVER AND IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! Gem & Jam has seriously amped up their game this year with a truly stacked lineup. Let’s do a quick rundown. The two biggest names topping the bill are Tipper and Big Gigantic. These two announcements were heavy hitters and part of the first round. They stirred up a ton of excitement and I know people immediately started scooping up their tickets. The most notable announcement on this second round is the addition of a Gem & Jam Grateful Dead Tribute which will feature Michael Travis, Jason Hann, Eric Krasno, Mihali Savoulidis, Reed Mathis, and Todd Stoops. There will definitely be endless music to come across but Gem & Jam also offers live art and performances during the musical happenings. With world-class visuals, and unique stage designs you’ll definitely get a little caught up in all the different forms of art. Beyond the main musical attractions, Gem & Jam will also be offering a slue of activities to explore throughout the festival grounds. There will be various artist galleries available on-site to check out as well as experiential installations. Of course, there are going to be endless gem and mineral vendors to search through. To top it all off, there will be daytime workshops available to all festival attendees. Getting lost and exploring at a festival can really bring about some of the most exciting and memorable moments during a festival. Gem & Jam is sure to have memorable opportunities at every corner!
The next thing we have to talk about is the VIP packages being offered here because I am blown away! If GA is a little too basic for you then Gem & Jam has quite the package for you to feel extra special. This year’s VIP package includes full access to the festival of course but you will also be treated to a VIP Main Stage Viewing Area, access to a VIP lounge where snacks and drinks will be available, your own set of VIP bathrooms, a VIP laminate and lanyard, a commemorative poster, VIP Grassroots California hat, VIP pin, and a keychain. That’s a hell of a VIP package if you ask me!
For those traveling from far or even those barely traveling to make it to Gem & Jam, they have made it possible to travel extra light with two different camping options, the general camping bundle option, and the Ready Set Camping option. If you’re looking into a less expensive option the general camping bundle gives you all your necessities for the weekend. It includes 1 tent for two, 1 lantern, 2 flashlights, 2 pillows, 2 sleeping bags and 1 queen size air mattresses which staff will actually help you inflate and transport back to your campsite. If this all seems a little too basic for your camping style don’t you worry. The Ready Set Camping option provides you a weekend stay in a futuristic and insulated Shift Pod which features composite fabric that is designed to keep you cool during the day and retain warmth during the night. Along with your Shift Pod, you also get an inflatable mattress and all the necessary bedding, furniture, a space heater, and access to electricity. Both of these camping options are designed to sleep two festival-goers comfortably. The Ready Set Camping option also provides you with a reserved and shaded campsite on the grass, which can be a total lifesaver with the morning sun and rocky pavement. Gem & Jam is such a wholesome festival that strives to give back as much as it possibly can to the community it serves. This festival stays true to their sustainability values and it shows through in so many different ways. One truly excellent example of their solid approach to supporting the community is their partnership with Youth on their Own, a dropout prevention program that supports unaccompanied, homeless minors through high school graduation and continued success. Gem & Jam will collect all the camping gear that is left behind from the two camping bundle options and donate them to Youth on their Own. While we are all fortunate festival-goers it is always important to remember those who are living without.
