Gabriel Seize Unleashes Retrofuturistic Debut EP ‘Prologue’

by Press Release

On May 10th, 2024, Gabriel Seize, a retrofuturistic musician and producer, released his 6-track EP Prologue via his own imprint, Gabriel Seize Music. Featuring his previously celebrated single “Falling Softly,” which was highlighted at the Belgian Music Video Festival VKRS, Prologue introduces listeners to Gabriel’s unique blend of synth-pop, electronica, and sci-fi-inspired aesthetics.

With over 50K streams across platforms and radio play on Belgium’s La Première, LN, Jam, and Ireland’s RTÉ 2FM, Gabriel is rapidly gaining recognition. He has captivated audiences at concerts in Belgium’s notable venues like Botanique and Reflektor and performed at festivals such as Francofolies de Spa, Botanique-Brussels, and Reflektor-Liège. This summer, Gabriel embarks on a tour across Belgium, followed by a series of showcases in France and the UK this fall.

Gabriel Seize, a based in Brussels, grew up as the only musician in his family and is entirely self-taught. He blends electronic music with 3D visuals, storytelling, and emotive vocals to create an immersive experience. His creative independence shines through his debut EP, as he not only composed and produced the music but also directed the music videos and crafted the 3D visuals. Previously, he performed in with his former project Beautiful Badness in 2020.

Operating from a cockpit of vintage synths, Gabriel constructs a parallel world influenced by synth-pop, French Touch, and the aesthetics of sci-fi and 16-bit video games. His influences range from Jean-Michel Jarre and Vangelis to Daft Punk, Kavinsky, M83, and Sébastien Tellier. Prologue is a synth-pop fantasy, blending nostalgia with modern production, making it a must-listen for fans of Daft Punk, MGMT, and Kavinsky.

The EP features mixing by Marlon B (who has worked with Charlotte Gainsbourg, Sébastien Tellier, and Sean Lennon) and mastering by Pieter De Wagter (known for his work with Lost Frequencies, Stromae, and Sofiane Pamart). With punchy beats, gritty synth leads, and Gabriel’s dreamy falsetto, the six tracks on Prologue offer a futuristic escape.

The standout track, “Beautiful Lie,” co-written with Belgian writer Adeline Dieudonné, is an homage to The Truman Show, blending cinematic narrative with societal critique. The song opens with a haunting whistle motif, and Gabriel’s ethereal vocals soar in both French and English. The accompanying video, animated by Gabriel, depicts him driving a futuristic car through surreal, retro industrial landscapes.

Explaining the meaning behind “Beautiful Lie,” Gabriel said: “This song is about escaping reality by creating a ‘beautiful lie’ around yourself. I envisioned a world that seems perfect—full of love, sensuality, and freedom—but it’s ultimately fake, like a theater set. I was inspired by works like The Truman Show and the Belgian comic book Walls of Samaris. I wanted the video to convey the feeling of being the only human in a world that’s otherwise mechanical and automatic.”

With Prologue, Gabriel Seize masterfully blends retrofuturism and modern production, carving out a distinctive space in electronic music while offering a glimpse into the future of his rising career.
