Downtempo masters Emancipator and 9 Theory release their highly anticipated new collaboration, “Cheeba Gold”. A serendipitous sonic journey recorded in four days showcasing their talents as producers and their synergy, friendship, and unbridled creativity.
If you’re a fan of Emancipator, you know his music is incredibly produced, deeply textured, and he’s known for being among the best in his field. On “Cheeba Gold” you’ll hear layers of synths, acoustic and electric guitars, ukelele, kalimba, sansula, shakers and more. This EP is Emancipator’s first release since his highly acclaimed 2017 album, “Baralku“, which Billboard included as one of their top 10 electronic albums of 2017.
The lead single “Chameleon”, has a beautiful flow and downtempo vibe. It is a three-part journey that captures the spirit of the entire EP, mainly due to the song containing different chapters that are all based on the same groove. There’s an idea of shapeshifting surface forms as well as a nod to that magnificently mysterious old-world lizard. This became a theme for the rest of the EP.
Emancipator and 9 Theory will be touring together this Spring on the Loci Records Showcase Tour with fellow label artists Frameworks, Marley Carroll, Edamame, & Lapa. The album is exceptional and the tour is not to be missed! Make sure to check them out at a city near you.
