Texas-based festival Float Fest has some serious game-changing amenities that set them apart and make a unique festival. Float Fest will be celebrating its sixth year on Saturday, July 20th and Sunday, July 21st. However, this year it is making a major move. The new location will be on a private pecan orchard with 200+-year-old trees in Gonzales, TX on the Guadalupe River, just a few miles from the city center. The event will be 3X larger with immediate access to the water, and 20X20 spaces for car campsites and 10X20 for tent only camping. In addition, the crew took into consideration the traffic that is usually clogging up the exit by implementing multiple exit points to relieve the pain of getting out to head home.
Float With Ease
Having immediate access to the water is not just for the beautiful views. What makes Float Fest so special is the option to float down the river in true Texas tradition. The tubing is an additional ticket you can purchase per day for $25 or by the weekend for $50. You do have the option to choose a tube with space for your own cooler. There will be beer, ice, and drinks available at the newly expanded General Store. The ticket is for only one trip down the river which is 2 miles long. You must have a festival ticket that pairs with the days you choose to float.
The festival will host 2 main stages with artists including Major Lazer, Gucci Mane, Kaskade, Zed’s Dead, Ice Cube and more. There will be no overlapping sets so festival-goers will be able to catch each artist playing. The gates to float the river will open from 8 am to 6 pm. The music will begin at 2 pm each day and shut off at 1 am on Saturday, and at 12 am on Sunday.
Keep the River Clean While You Tube
There are three different camping choices: tent, weekend car, and RV. If you are going to be driving in each day and will need a parking pass that is sold for the weekend at $20. Camping has its benefits including bringing your own food. However, if you are not camping or just have a thing for festival food, there will be 35+ vendors on the property for the weekend.
If you do decide to indulge please remember to keep in mind that the venue is on a river and to be mindful of the trash. Float Fest arranges a river deep clean project before, during and after the festival called ‘Keep the River Clean’ through partnerships with local businesses. To keep up with the cleanliness, River Rangers will be cruising by on canoes to collect the complimentary biodegradable trash bags that are provided with a tube, and trash bins will be located at the shuttle pick up. Always respect the environment and the venue that allows us to rage it for the weekend.
What is Important to You?
Tickets are available for purchasing and reaching their top tier price points. You may either purchase single day GA or VIP tickets, or weekend GA or VIP tickets. The question usually is- is VIP worth it? What stood out to me most was the access to the Shade and Arcade Lounge which will be open for 24 hours a day with WiFi and AC. For those who choose GA tickets, this will be an additional charge of $35 per day, or $50 for the weekend. There will also be access to over 30 plus games, bar, a comfy place to relax, and a DJ to keep the party going.
If that isn’t enough, VIP guests will get to start the party one day early on Friday, July 19th. Even better there will be complimentary water and non-alcoholic beverages and more. For double the price, would you do it? Personally, after I went to EDC Las Vegas this year I told myself I would for sure camp form now on. If you’re not up for roughing it for a few days, there are shuttles that pick up and drop off in four locations. There are single day round trip and weekend round trip tickets available from Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and San Marcos.
