Following the warm reception of their title track “Sunlight Daydream,” Flamingosis and Diastrata have returned with “Artificial Love,” the second single from their forthcoming collaborative album Sunlight Daydream, due August 15 via Philos Records.
Blending Flamingosis’ nostalgic, sample-based production with Diastrata’s smooth live instrumentation, “Artificial Love” flows with shimmering synths, laid-back guitar riffs, and vintage textures. The result is a retro-futuristic groove that evokes late-summer drives, hazy sunsets, and the bittersweet pull of memories that may never have existed.
The single is paired with a striking animated music video by 3D artist David Mellor (@Mellomograph), adding a surreal visual layer to the song’s exploration of illusion, romance, and digital nostalgia.
“Artificial Love is about the tension between fantasy and reality—romanticizing something that maybe never existed to begin with,” shares Flamingosis. “It was one of those tracks that came together naturally in the studio with Drew and Ian. It felt cinematic, like the score to a feeling.”
A creative partnership years in the making, Flamingosis and Denver-based duo Diastrata—guitarist Drew Birch and keyboardist Ian Gilley—strike an effortless balance of analog warmth and contemporary flair. Their upcoming joint project Sunlight Daydream promises a genre-blurring journey through funk, soul, and experimental beat music, with “Artificial Love” offering a vibrant preview of its sonic palette.
Fans can experience the full album when Sunlight Daydream drops on September 12, followed by a vinyl release and a special Denver pop-up. The campaign concludes with a highly anticipated live show at The Mishawaka Amphitheatre on September 19, featuring Flamingosis and SunSquabi, with Diastrata opening the night.
