Alt-electronic artist fknsyd and anonymous rising producer X1-Y2 have joined forces for their collaborative four-track project, Dissolution of Self, out now via HypnoVizion.
Blurring the line between surrender and control, Dissolution of Self merges X1-Y2’s visceral, industrial-tinged sound design with fknsyd’s haunting, ethereal vocal performance. From the distorted pulse of “Murmurs” to the introspective tension of “When the Mirror Looks Back,” each track serves as a distinct portal into the duo’s shared world. At its heart lies “I Am Hopeless Devotion,” a cinematic centerpiece combining live guitar, intricate production, and raw emotional depth — fusing fragility and force in equal measure.
“I feel grateful when I think about these songs and having had the chance to work with X1-Y2. He’s so crazy talented and kind. We initially had no plans to make a body of music — I think we were just curious to see what we could do. We finished the first one in like a day or two, and it was such a pleasant experience that we just kept going. Hopefully there will be more yet :)” — fknsyd
“This EP started as a single song idea between us and quickly evolved into a constant stream of creation, aiming for a raw industrial-infused sound paired with rich vocals. We wanted to experiment a lot — making it chaotic and smooth, aggressive while being gentle. As an admirer of Syd’s amazing work for a long time, being able to make this with her was more than a huge pleasure!” — X1-Y2
A multi-talented songstress, producer, and visual artist, fknsyd is known for her supernatural lyricism and haunting vocal textures. Her collaborations span across the electronic spectrum, including work with Rezz, RL Grime, TDJ, SLANDER, and Chet Porter. A key presence on HypnoVizion, she has contributed to Rezz’s IT’S NOT A PHASE EP, EDDIE’s Onzeker Kraft Vol. 1, and released solo works such as “Anesthesia Smile,” “Marionette,” and “Apparitions.”
Meanwhile, X1-Y2 has quickly emerged as one of bass music’s most intriguing figures. First introduced to fans through his Rezz collaborations — including a rework of “Edge” and their visionary NOVUS EP — X1-Y2 has since released his own Caustics EP, debut single “SENSE,” and the collaboration “STATIC” with FISE.
Dissolution of Self is available now on all streaming platforms via HypnoVizion.
