With Governor’s Ball coming in hot this weekend, we are kicking off the festival season within New York City in proper fashion. We’re excited to get our groove on with this legendary multi-genre festival. Artists that have performed here range from Guns n’ Roses to Skrillex, and even Axwell and Ingrosso to Kanye West. This year’s lineup is no exception to the rule of being a diverse festival. Check out our top picks of the artists you must see at the 2019 edition of Governor’s Ball.
Ty Dolla $ign
With over 2 billion streams collectively within his catalog of music, Ty Dolla $ign is a no-brainer on who to check out Saturday of Gov Ball. Having done collaborations with artists like Nicki Minaj, The Weeknd, Pharrell, The Chainsmokers and Tory Lanez. You’re sure to get your fix in of mainstream radio hits alongside some guilty pleasure tracks. Personally, one of mine is ‘Do You Mean’ with The Chainsmokers. Make sure to check out Ty Dolla $ign at the American Eagle Stage from 5:45pm-6:45pm on Saturday, June 1st.
MØ
Danish singer, Karen Marie Aagaard Ørsted Andersen also known simply as MØ is our next pick. She’s known mainly for her work with Major Lazer on tracks like ‘Lean On’ and ‘Cold Water’ with Justin Bieber. Her performance will give you chills with her amazing vocal and choreographic skills. This is another artist that will give you the chance to sing along to all your favorite radio hits. Get ready to have the sun in your eyes when she takes over the American Eagle Stage on Friday, May 31st from 5:45pm-6:45pm.
SZA
Making her Governor’s Ball debut this year, SZA is ready to take the stage by storm. This NYC local has been dominating the musical world lately with her collaboration with Rihanna ‘Consideration’. Her collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, ‘All The Stars’ for the critically acclaimed Black Panther movie soundtrack has also done quite well recently. We hope you’re ready to get your bounce on, because SZA will be playing the Main Stage on Sunday, June 2nd from 8:45pm-9:45pm.
Florence + The Machine
The ‘Dog Days Are Over’! Yes, Florence + The Machine are back at ‘the ball’ and we can’t contain ourselves. With such a group of talented musicians coming, how could we? This band is known for selling out arenas and headlining major festivals worldwide, with worldwide hits such as ‘You Got The Love’ and ‘Hunger’. Having had support from the likes of Swedish House Mafia, you’ve definitely heard Florence + The Machine in some of your favorite DJ sets. Make sure to head over to the Main Stage to catch their closing set on Saturday from 9:15pm-11:00pm for some musical goodness.
Gesaffelstein
Out of all the artists on this stellar line up, Gesaffelstein is an absolutely must see! Coming hot off the heels of an insane Coachella performance, Gesaffelstein is making his way to NYC and we’re expecting nothing less than a grade-A performance. Due to the fact that he rarely tours, Gesaffelstein has gone straight to the very top of list of artists I must see. Miss him once and you’ll probably be waiting a couple of years to see him perform again. Considering that the last time he played in NYC was in 2015; it’s safe to say that you don’t want to miss out on this. We already know he is going to throw down, so make sure to catch him on Friday, May 31st from 8:45pm-10:00pm at the Honda Stage.
