While Gryffin has made a name for himself in the crossover and future bass scenes with his previous two albums, his latest work signals a return to his dance music roots. This shift will be fully showcased in his upcoming album, PULSE. Similarly, Armin van Buuren, known as a trance pioneer, has been revisiting the uplifting and high-energy vibes of his early work with his recent album Breathe In. “What Took You So Long” perfectly blends these elements, capturing a significant moment for both artists as they intertwine dance and trance in a powerful way.

On the collaboration, Gryffin shared, “‘What Took You So Long’ came about in a session with Armin, Jake Torrey, Madison Love, and Toby Gad. Armin shared a story about finding the love of his life and wondering why it took so long, and we all felt that idea was incredibly powerful. We dived into the production, embracing the 140-bpm trance world, which paired perfectly with Madison’s vocals. I couldn’t be more excited to share this track with fans.”

Armin van Buuren added, “Collaborating with Gryffin was special because we’re both going back to our musical roots, even though we come from different generations. The lyrics capture the moment I met my wife and knew she was the one, though it took some convincing! This track holds a special place in my heart, and I’m thrilled for the world to hear it.”

With What Took You So Long, both artists celebrate their respective journeys while delivering a track that fuses emotion, energy, and nostalgia.
