EAZYBAKED And Distinct Motive Turn A Year Of Shared Stages Into What’s The Motive

For EAZYBAKED and Distinct Motive, the story behind their new collaboration began long before the record had an official release date. After spending much of 2026 sharing stages, closing out sets together and building a growing connection with audiences, the two bass music projects now turn that chemistry into “What’s the motive,” arriving September 23, 2026 via Deadbeats.

The collaboration brings together two distinct approaches to modern bass music. EAZYBAKED’s spacious, left-field production meets Distinct Motive’s deep, hypnotic take on dubstep, creating a natural overlap between their respective sounds. Rather than feeling like an isolated studio pairing, the track arrives as the latest chapter in a relationship that has been developing in front of audiences for more than a year.

That relationship first became visible at the 2025 Deadbeats Miami Music Week showcase, where EAZYBAKED and Distinct Motive went B2B in direct support of Zeds Dead B2B Subtronics. What could have remained a one-night collaboration instead became the foundation for a much larger partnership.

Throughout 2026, the artists have taken that chemistry on the road for a multi-date co-headline run. Their shows have combined individual sets with B2B finales, giving audiences the chance to experience both projects separately before watching their sounds collide at the end of the night.

The run has already included sold-out performances at Walter Where?House in Phoenix, The Concourse Project in Austin and Lincoln Factory in Boise. Those performances have helped turn the pairing into more than a touring concept, with the artists building a shared audience one room at a time.

That live connection continues immediately around the release of “What’s the motive.” Just two days after the single arrives, EAZYBAKED and Distinct Motive will reunite for another B2B at Nocturnal Valley on September 25. Their shared run continues later in the fall with headline dates at The Shop in Seattle on October 17 and The Ave Live in Philadelphia on November 28, alongside additional appearances together.

Because of that history, “What’s the motive” doesn’t arrive as a collaboration that fans are discovering for the first time. Its audience has already watched the relationship develop from the stage outward. They have seen the B2Bs, experienced the shared finales and followed the two projects throughout their 2026 run. The September 23 release simply gives that connection an official home.

For Distinct Motive, the single also adds another chapter to an established relationship with Deadbeats. The Toronto-based producer has built a reputation around deep dubstep, hypnotic rhythms and powerful low-end production, developing a dedicated following while carving out a distinctive place within the modern bass scene.

His continued connection to Deadbeats, including his contribution to We Are Deadbeats Vol. 7, has positioned him within the label’s darker and more exploratory side. “What’s the motive” extends that relationship while bringing another artist into the conversation.

EAZYBAKED arrive with their own momentum following an especially active period. The Florida-raised duo spent 2026 appearing at major festivals including EDC Las Vegas, Bonnaroo, Shambhala, Bass Canyon and Camp Alderwild, while also continuing their own Bake Out events.

Their touring schedule has been matched by a steady stream of new music. Following their 2025 full-length album The Antennae, the duo opened 2026 with FRESH BAKED BREAD alongside Daily Bread, before revisiting their breakout record Certified with a new sumthin sumthin remix. “What’s the motive” continues that collaborative momentum while pointing toward more music still to come.

The result is a record whose story was effectively written on the dancefloor before it ever reached streaming platforms. EAZYBAKED and Distinct Motive have spent the year testing their chemistry in sold-out rooms and major festival settings, allowing their respective audiences to become part of the collaboration’s evolution.

Now, with “What’s the motive,” that live relationship becomes official. The single brings together two distinctive sonic languages under Deadbeats, offering a natural extension of a partnership that has already proven itself in front of the crowd.

What’s the motive” is out September 23, 2026 via Deadbeats.
