Eats Everything Drops ‘We Lost Ourselves And Found A Family’ – A Tribute to Dance Music Culture

by Eric Valencia

British dance music icon Eats Everything delivers a career-defining statement with his latest album, ‘We Lost Ourselves And Found A Family,’ out now via Three Six Zero Recordings / Ministry Of Sound. Spanning 16 tracks, the LP pays homage to the past, present, and future of rave culture, blending old-school energy with contemporary sounds in a way only Eats Everything can.

The album features an all-star lineup of collaborators, including house legend Kerri Chandler, jungle pioneer Goldie, UKG mainstay MJ Cole, bass house heavyweight Chris Lorenzo, and Sheffield rapper Coco. It also showcases Bristol’s Gardna and the “Original Rave Whisperer” MC SGT Pokes, ensuring an eclectic mix of influences across house, garage, techno, jungle, and beyond.

From the warehouse rave breaks of ‘Absolutely Mental’ (ft. SGT Pokes) and ‘The Sanctuary’ (ft. HQA) to the deep house wisdom of ‘The Deeper’ with Kerri Chandler, the album explores the full spectrum of dance music. The title track, ‘We Lost Ourselves And Found A Family’, sees Goldie reflecting on the euphoric and rebellious spirit of ’90s illegal raves, while ‘One Call’ with MJ Cole delivers a soulful, R&B-tinged garage groove. Other standout moments include the funk-fueled ‘Wowalicious,’ the anthemic ‘Happy People’ with Stevie Appleton, and the Chris Lorenzo collab ‘Ghosts’.

The release follows Eats Everything’s massive 2024 single ‘Upside Down’, a Nile Rodgers-approved rework of Diana Ross’s disco classic. The track, a staple for DJs like Dom Dolla, Chris Lake, and Groove Armada, climbed into the Beatport Top 10, earned a BBC Radio 1 Hottest Record nod, and even landed on Match of the Day.

“This album is an encapsulation of my experiences with dance music throughout the ages,” says Eats Everything (aka Dan Pearce). “I touch on almost every genre, from D’n’B to boogie. Some of it’s for the dancefloor, some of it’s not. There are twists and turns, some beautiful stuff, and some gnarly stuff. I’ve collaborated with heroes of mine. It’s been a long time coming, with many pitfalls and ups and downs, but it’s ultimately been a labor of love.”
