duendita returns with “beach,” the second single from their forthcoming album existential thottie, arriving April 29 via 10k Global. The release follows the previously unveiled “super sad!,” continuing a new chapter of music that moves fluidly between vulnerability and catharsis while centering themes of identity, community, and survival.
To mark the release, duendita will host an existential thottie listening event in Berlin on April 28, featuring DJ sets from wooly aziz and mi-el, Caribbean patties by antilles NY, and a full album playback at 10:30 PM, alongside a short live performance.
Beginning in May, duendita will take the project on the road with the thottie tour, bringing songs from existential thottie to cities across Europe. Tickets are available now as anticipation builds around the release.
Reflecting on the project, duendita shares: “At first, I was nervous to share this project. The songs are so personal, like a diary. Then I realized this is the first project I produced completely ‘head 2 toe,’ so no wonder… these songs started with me, sometimes just me and my Digitakt, alone, late nights and early mornings, pure expression. Maybe this project is for me, more than for anyone else.
“I worked on the demos as much as I could, then brought in my collaborators and bandmates. I love letting our live experiences inform our recorded music—that’s how we ended up with harp and live drums, additional vocals, keys, and bass. For a long time, ‘beach’ was my favorite song… but now ‘roasting that ass’ stole my heart. When we play it live, ugh, lawddddd, I love life.
“The whole project is about being jiggly, ridiculous, and honest—songs about breakups, crying in the club, emotional pain that never leaves, really hot and safe sex, birth control, fights in my hetero ass situationship, my time navigating the state mental health system… and ending with a promise that I will give healing my all.”
Hailing from Queens, duendita operates as a fluid, collaborative project rooted in ancestry, community, and faith. Blending elements of jazz, piano, soul, and R&B, their sound is defined by achy, bass-driven textures and an emotional depth that reflects the complexities of the human experience.
With “beach,” duendita continues to shape the world of existential thottie—a project grounded in radical honesty, lived experience, and creative freedom—as they prepare to unveil one of their most personal works to date.
