DJ Tennis and M-High join forces on “Cold Hands,” a new collaborative single out now via Life and Death. Blending new wave influences with a fluid approach to club music, the release arrives as a three-version package that finds the two artists exploring different sides of their sound.
Adding an unexpected personal touch, DJ Tennis steps behind the microphone for the release, providing his own vocals as the track moves between atmospheric synth work and driving club rhythms.
The Italo Mix establishes the release’s most euphoric direction, pairing glowing synths with a woozy, dreamlike atmosphere. The Electro Mix expands the track for larger dancefloors, adding extra scale and momentum, while the House Flip strips things back into punchier tech house territory.
Rather than treating the three versions as simple variations, the release allows “Cold Hands” to occupy distinctly different corners of the electronic music spectrum while maintaining its new wave-inspired identity.
For Dutch producer M-High, the collaboration continues a growing relationship with Life and Death. Earlier this year, he made his debut on the label with the four-track Dark Web Pinger EP, further establishing himself as a producer capable of combining groove-heavy club production with a distinctive sense of atmosphere.
His recent run has also seen his productions climb the Beatport charts while earning support from BBC Radio 1 and influential DJs including Chris Stussy, Marlon Hoffstadt, and KETTAMA.
For DJ Tennis, “Cold Hands” follows his June single “Misbehave” and arrives during the 15th anniversary year of Life and Death. Founded by Tennis, born Manfredi Romano, the label has spent the past decade and a half developing a catalog that deliberately refuses to remain confined to a single definition of underground electronic music.
Melody, vocals, experimentation, and genre crossover have remained central to the label’s identity, making “Cold Hands” a fitting release for its anniversary year.
The collaboration also creates a natural connection between the label’s history and its next generation. By pairing its founder with one of its newer artists, M-High and DJ Tennis bring two different perspectives into the same musical space, while Tennis’s own vocal performance gives the track an unusually intimate dimension.
With three contrasting versions and a sound that moves freely between Italo, electro, new wave, and house, “Cold Hands” captures the adventurous spirit that has defined Life and Death for 15 years.
