Electronic music innovators DJ Tennis and Ashee have teamed up to unveil their exciting new collaborative project, Tenashee, alongside the debut of their A/V installation SUPERPOSITION in collaboration with renowned visual artist MAOTIK. The immersive installation was unveiled at London’s W1 Studios and will remain in place throughout September, culminating in the highly anticipated Tenashee live A/V show debut on September 19.
Tenashee blends bold musical experimentation with intricate sound design, fusing genres like IDM, drum & bass, and ambient into a seamless auditory experience. Drawing from shared musical roots, the duo aims to push boundaries and create immersive, art-driven worlds that bridge the gap between music and visual art.
SUPERPOSITION, designed by MAOTIK—a French artist known for crafting immersive digital environments—makes full use of W1 Curates’ unique multi-screen architecture. Through the interplay of lines and cubic geometry, the installation alters perceptions of space by transforming both the interior and exterior of the building into a fluid, evolving structure. The visual elements are reactive to frequency and tempo, starting from minimalism and evolving into complex graphical compositions, all synced with deconstructed sounds from Tenashee’s forthcoming musical works.
The Tenashee project emerged during the pandemic when DJ Tennis (Manfredi Romano) found himself stranded on a Caribbean island, while Ashee (Joseph Ashworth) was producing in isolation in London. With limited access to instruments, the duo embraced creative freedom, focusing on the pure joy of making music without a set destination. This collaboration is the result of years of exploration and experimentation, now finally coming to fruition.
MAOTIK, whose work merges art, science, and technology, has showcased his creations at prestigious festivals and institutions worldwide, including Mutek, Sonar, Art Basel, and Frieze London. His work with Tenashee represents the intersection of music and visual art, creating a singular blend of audiovisual experiences that invite the audience to step into a new, immersive universe.
DJ Tennis, with a career spanning from managing bands like LCD Soundsystem to being a sought-after tastemaker in the electronic music world, brings a wealth of experience to the project. Known for his work with labels such as Ninja Tune, Warp Records, and Raster-Noton, as well as collaborations with artists like LP Giobbi and Alex Metric, his eclectic background informs the ambitious scope of Tenashee. Outside of music, DJ Tennis is also a culinary artist, spearheading the food platform Munchietown.
Ashee has made a name for himself as a London-based producer with releases on labels like CircoLoco, Life and Death, and Aus Music. His raw, energetic approach to production showcases his versatility, making him a highly in-demand DJ and artist.
The Tenashee live A/V show at W1 Studios on September 19 promises to be an unforgettable experience, blending cutting-edge visuals, immersive soundscapes, and innovative music. This debut marks the beginning of an ongoing creative journey for Tenashee, with more collaborations in the pipeline across the worlds of electronic music and interactive art.
