Berlin-based indie/electro wave band Dina Summer is set to release their latest single, “Girls Gang,” on September 11th via Iptamenos Discos. This marks the third single from their upcoming album, also titled Girls Gang, which is scheduled for release in January 2025.
The single “Girls Gang” showcases Dina Summer’s signature dark, seductive synth wave sound. Frontwoman Dina enchants listeners with breathy, gothic-inspired whispers, drawing influence from iconic characters like Morticia Addams, Lydia Deetz, Siouxsie Sioux, and Elvira. Complemented by a booming kick, steady snare, and driving bassline, the track exudes bold confidence and dark elegance, perfect for fans of the darker side of synth wave.
Girls Gang is the album’s announcement single, following the release of the well-received tracks “Alien” and “Halkidiki.” “Alien” taps into feelings of not belonging, embodying extraterrestrial personas landing on Earth, while “Halkidiki” is a tribute to the Greek summer destination, with a spirited bassline and dreamy vocals that evoke a warm, feel-good energy.
Described as “dark disco meets EBM” by Resident Advisor, Dina Summer is a collaboration between Kalipo, a member of electro-punk band Frittenbude, and the married duo behind Local Suicide. The trio has garnered attention for their unique blend of retro and futuristic sounds, reflected in their 2022 album Rimini, which delves into nostalgic disco, and their earlier EPs Who Am I and Hide & Seek.
With millions of streams, global radio play, and support from renowned DJs like Charlotte De Witte, The Hacker, Âme, and Dixon, Dina Summer’s music has been featured on Spotify and Apple Music editorial playlists and covered by top publications such as DJ Mag, Mixmag, and Spiegel Online.
In support of their new album, Dina Summer will be embarking on a European tour around the release of Girls Gang in January, with dates to be announced soon.
