Decadon is a Name to Watch as He Continues to Explode on the Scene

by Eric Valencia

You are doing yourself a disservice if you haven’t made the time to discover Decadon.  A DJ that is quickly growing in the Dubsteb world, Donnie Miller is a one-man-band who puts on a show that is not easily forgotten.  Born in a home that had a constant playlist of Classic Rock, he knew from an early age that a career in music was the only possible choice for him.  Donnie taught himself the guitar at age 12 and then moved into the typical high school band phase of life. Driven by the idea of living life as a musician, he left the band to produce his own sound. At the age of 17, Decadon was signed to Collective Records where released a number of successful singles including “Fragment” and “Gotta Be Kidding”.

Fusing Rock and Dubstep, each set he plays features his signature guitar style. While more and more DJs seem to be adding a live music aspect to their sets, it doesn’t take from the beauty of it. I had the pleasure of seeing Decadon play Decadence Arizona 2019.  He made his guitar cry whilst standing atop the DJ booth, and I could do nothing but watch in awe. If that wasn’t enough, electrifying visuals of lightning filled the stage.  It was one of the highlight performances of the night. One fan made a rather large brass-knuckle “D,” the logo that Donnie uses, in hopes of catching his attention. His attention was certainly captured, with Decadon calling out, “Hey! That’s a nice “D” you’ve got!” He spent time after the set meeting up with local fans and taking photos. Later that night Decadon played again at the silent-disco Weird and Wonderful stage.

Decadon Shredding It Up

Having grown up on Rock and Punk, it should not come as a surprise that Donnie’s Soundcloud is plastered with a number of nostalgic remixes.  Ranging from Fallout Boy to Green Day to Papa Roach, you’ll find something that will recall your angst-filled teenage years. My favorite track is from the Pop-Punk band Yellowcard, “Ocean Avenue“. It brings back memories of a long-forgotten time, both fond and not-so-fond. You can check out the full 11-track album of remixes here.

While Decadon is not currently on tour, he is bound to be soon. Having released multiple singles over the last few months, it’s likely all building towards an EP release and tour announcement. While you’re waiting, be sure to check out his most recent single “Light“, a collab with Fransis Derelle and featuring LINDZ. It’s a hypnotizing track that spills emotions between each swell and refrain.
