Day Zero Returns to Tulum With a Magical Lineup on January 11, 2025

by Eric Valencia

In 2012, as the world marked the end of the Mayan calendar, a new tradition was born in the lush jungles of Tulum. Tribes of partygoers from across the globe came together to celebrate the collision of the ancient and modern, creative and hedonistic. This gathering became Day Zero, a transformative event curated by Damian Lazarus. Now, Day Zero returns on January 11, 2025, promising one of its most breathtaking lineups to date.

Set amidst the natural wonders of Tulum, Day Zero transcends the traditional music festival experience. The event fuses Mayan culture, cutting-edge production, and immersive art installations to create a surreal alternate universe. Laser beams pierce through dense canopies, traditional Mayan guides lead rituals, and the jungle comes alive as the night unfolds.

The lineup showcases Damian Lazarus’ unmatched ability to bring together pioneers and avant-garde acts from the world of electronic music. Headliners include legendary rave innovator Fatboy Slim, Major League DJz—the ambassadors of Amapiano—global club icon DJ Harvey, Berlin’s electrifying Patrick Mason, Lee Burridge of All Day I Dream, techno heavyweight Dubfire, and NYC house icon Victor Calderone. A very special guest will also join the bill, with details set to be revealed in the coming months.

The sonic journey continues with rising stars and genre-bending selectors such as Carlita, Maccabi House leaders Adam Ten and Mita Gami, flamenco electronica duo Mëstiza, minimal visionary Priku, and eclectic artist Sonja Moonear. Additional performances from Francesca Lombardo, Crosstown staple Bartolomeo, and Airrica further highlight the festival’s expansive sound. UK heavyweight Cameron Jack, Parisian producer Salome le Chat, multi-instrumentalist Cole Knight, and up-and-comer Meera round out the lineup.

Continuing its groundbreaking tradition, Day Zero honors Mexican talent with the El Teatro stage—an underground oasis showcasing the country’s brightest artists. Performers include Sainte Vie, Sabrina, Rafatel, Roderic (live), and Mexican supergroup Secret Echoes featuring Metrika, Estefani Brolo, and Balcazar. Sidartha Siliceo will lead the opening ceremony with a purifying performance, setting the tone for the night.

True to tradition, Damian Lazarus will guide attendees on a hypnotic, genre-defying sonic odyssey in the festival’s final hours. Known for his rule-breaking edits and seamless transitions, Damian continues to enchant audiences with his mastery behind the decks.

Day Zero’s ethos extends beyond the dancefloor through its Crosstown Consciousness program, an initiative dedicated to sustainability and community engagement. Efforts include transforming plastic waste into energy through a partnership with Petgas, restoring coral reefs via SOS MARES, funding local children’s music programs, and leading reforestation efforts in Tulum.

As imitator events attempt to replicate its magic, Day Zero stands alone as a beacon of authenticity and cultural reverence. More than just a party, it is a sanctuary for those seeking connection, enchantment, and renewal in one of the world’s most sacred settings.

On January 11, 2025, Day Zero invites you to witness its magic, where time, sound, and tradition collide under the jungle skies of Tulum.
