In 2012, as the Mayan calendar closed and a new era dawned, a unique tradition was born deep in the jungles of Tulum. Tribes of partygoers from across the globe converged, each bringing their distinct perspectives in a gathering that celebrated both reflection and renewal. This fusion of ancient and modern, creative and hedonistic, gave rise to Day Zero, a legendary event conceptualized by Damian Lazarus. On January 11, Day Zero returns, promising one of its most astounding lineups yet.

Blending Mayan culture with nature’s wonders, Day Zero creates an avant-garde universe within the mystical jungles of Tulum. The event’s mind-bending production utilizes the natural surroundings, with laser beams cutting through dense canopies and immersive art installations scattered throughout the grounds. Local Mayan guides honor their ancient culture with traditional rituals performed under the stars, enriching the festival’s spiritual essence.

True to the curatorial genius of founder Damian Lazarus, Day Zero’s soundtrack pulses from sunset to sunrise, featuring forward-thinking selectors, trailblazing tastemakers, and groundbreaking live acts from the farthest reaches of electronic music. The 2024 lineup includes legendary rave pioneer Fatboy Slim, Amapiano champions Major League DJz, globally acclaimed club icon DJ Harvey, ‘s dynamic Patrick Mason, All Day I Dream founder Lee Burridge, SCI + TEC headliner Dubfire, and NYC legend Victor Calderone. And a very special guest, yet to be announced, will join this stellar lineup in the coming months.

The lineup expands with Turkish-Italian rising star Carlita, Maccabi House maestros Adam Ten and Mita Gami, flamenco electronica Mëstiza, eclectic DJ Sonja Moonear, Italian sensation Francesca Lombardo, Audiofly‘s Anthony Middleton, and Crosstown Rebels staple Bartolomeo. With a focus on emerging talent, Damian Lazarus also welcomes Cameron Jack, Parisian producer Salome le Chat, minimal mastermind Priku, Tulum favorite Lum, Crosstown regular Airrica, multi-instrumentalist DJ Cole Knight, and rising star Meera.

Continuing its commitment to highlight local talent, Day Zero will once again dedicate the El Teatro stage exclusively to Mexican artists. The lineup includes a live performance by Akumandra founder Sainte Vie, Calypso Cult‘s Sabrina, CDMX‘s MNTY, Sunday Sunday resident Rafatel, Monterrey‘s Roderic (live), Discosis, and Secret Echoes (live), a Mexican supergroup signed to Crosstown Rebels. The stage will also feature an opening ceremony led by Sidartha Siliceo, who will purify the space with his ceremonial music.

In keeping with tradition, Damian Lazarus will guide the crowd through a mind-bending sonic journey in the early morning hours. His fearless approach to music, blending genre-defying edits with dance floor magic, showcases a deep dedication to musical evolution and cements his place as one of the most captivating DJs in the world.

Day Zero’s mission goes beyond the music; it is committed to environmental sustainability and community involvement. Through the Crosstown Consciousness program, the festival collaborates with local Mayan spiritual leaders and community organizations. Initiatives include converting plastic waste into fuel through a partnership with Petgas, supporting coral reef restoration with SOS MARES, funding local children’s music schools, organizing beach cleanups, and donating trees to reforest areas of Tulum.

Day Zero stands as a sanctuary for electronic music lovers, offering an experience that transcends the ordinary. Steeped in cultural reverence and spiritual connection, the festival invites you to immerse yourself in its enchanting world, where ancient traditions meet cutting-edge soundscapes. Though many have tried to replicate its magic, there is only one true Day Zero.
