Danny Tenaglia is a legend in the Electronic Music Scene. He’s been DJing and producing for over 30 years, toured all over the world, and has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the business. To say I was excited when I heard he was making his way to the Lone Star State would be an understatement!
It was one of the most talked about events of the summer, especially amongst the old school crowd. Kinda Super Disco, a production company based out of Houston was throwing the event and they have a reputation for throwing outstanding shows and this one was no exception. The venue Rich’s is also a legend in its own right. This club has been around for decades and was the perfect place to host this musical pioneer.
As we made our way into Rich’s the local opener for the night, Joe Dismal was getting the crowd pumped. His hypnotic deep set was the perfect precursor for a night of throbbing underground sounds. If you needed to get some air, the expansive patio had its own superb party going on. The weather was typical Houston humidity, but you couldn’t tell there was any sticky discomfort in sight with the number of people dancing under the night sky.
Finally, the godfather Tenaglia took the stage and gave the crowd what they’ve been waiting for = Pure intoxicating Techno. He had the dancefloor packed and the crowd memorized for the entirety of his extended set. And even when the performance was supposed to be over, he stayed on the decks and knocked out a few more tracks. We weren’t ready for him to leave and neither was he.
The whole night was exceptional; the crowd, the vibe, and the music were all on point. I traveled to Houston for this show and was so glad I did.
