Dancefestopia 2019 | Follow the Yellow Bass Road to RL Grime, Feed Me and a Wakaan Takeover

Dancefestopia has been the Midwest’s hidden gem of EDM festivals since expanding to three days of killer beats and hard-partying vibes in 2015. Now in its eighth go-round, the Kansas festival (an hour south of Kansas City) continues the Emerald City “Wizard of Oz” theme that gave such a unique aesthetic to its bass-centric offerings last year. The bass is strong with this year’s lineup as well, while spreading enough genre variety across four days to attract a broader audience of EDM fans.

Thursday, September 8 blasts off with the space bass of Liquid Stranger and a takeover by his Wakaan label, including Champagne Drip, EAZYBAKED, Esseks, Freddy Todd, G-REX, LSDREAM, Lucii, LUZCID, Russ Liquid and TYNAN. Last year began with a less-than-satisfying dubstep night from Flux Pavilion and several DJs from his Circus Records label, but this will be a way doper start to the fest.

The following three days will pop off with sets from Alison Wonderland, ATLiens, Big Gigantic, Big Wild, Feed Me, Ganja White Night, Golf Clap, Kayzo, Protohype, RL Grime, Rusko, Zomboy and many more. There’s only ever been one main stage at Dancefestopia, which allows attendees to see all the big names, while a couple small stages for lesser-known acts keep the beats bumping till the early morning. The campgrounds wind through a lively forest that provides shade for all and enough space for even huge crews to stick together.

Dancefestopia ups its production game each year and has always been a blast, from the great music to the stellar community that exemplifies both “Midwest nice” and a raucous ability to party like wild animals. GA passes currently run $144 and camping passes cost $64, though cheap payment plans are also available.
