Gryffin, the dance music maverick, has released his highly anticipated third studio album, PULSE, now available via Virgin Music. The 14-track album includes previously released singles such as ‘Last of Us’ with Rita Ora, ‘What Took You So Long’ with Armin Van Buuren, ‘Magic’ with babyidontlikeyou, ‘Magnet’ with Disco Fries and MAX, and ‘Dance Through the Night’ with Whethan and Norma Jean Martine.
PULSE draws inspiration from Gryffin’s early to mid-2000s roots, serving as an ode to electronic music’s golden era. It features a kaleidoscopic blend of progressive house, melodic techno, drum & bass, deep tech, trance, and various sub-genres. While maintaining the lyrically driven nature of his previous albums, Gravity and Alive, PULSE introduces a new tone with upbeat rhythms and sophisticated synth work. The album captures the dynamic ebb and flow of the dance floor, celebrating the collective energy and interpersonal spirit of electronic music. Aimed at both his pop-leaning audience and rave enthusiasts, PULSE infuses adrenaline, inspired by Gryffin’s early experiences in the electronic underground.
“My third album, PULSE, is a tribute to all of the electronic influences that shaped me as an artist. It’s the most energetic and cohesive body of work I’ve ever produced. I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone and delivered something that brought a new perspective to my music. I experimented with various sub-genres within dance music, like techno and drum & bass. This album is a testament to dance music culture and showcases the versatility of the genre. PULSE reminds me why I fell in love with dance music. I’ve never had so much fun making an album, and I’m excited for everyone to listen.” – Gryffin
PULSE showcases Gryffin’s experimental side, with fast-paced tempos on tracks like ‘Falling to Pieces’ and ‘On the Line’, and expansive builds on songs such as ‘Sonar Heart’ and ‘Dance Through the Night’. The album features collaborations with a diverse group of producers, including Armin Van Buuren, Elderbrook, Disco Lines, Whethan, and Shift K3Y. It also includes vocal contributions from superstars like Rita Ora, John Newman, MAX, Calle Lehmann, and ZOHARA.
Dan Griffith, the Japanese-American producer, instrumentalist, songwriter, and DJ known as Gryffin, has built an impressive catalog of melodic dance originals and remixes. His platinum and gold-certified discography features collaborations with crossover acts like OneRepublic, Tinashe, MØ, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Aloe Blacc, as well as electronic contemporaries such as Kygo, Gorgon City, and Seven Lions. Gryffin released his debut album, Gravity, in 2019, followed by his sophomore album, Alive, in 2022. PULSE follows Gryffin’s performances at Ultra Music Festival, Coachella’s DoLaB Stage, and EDC Las Vegas.
Gryffin will bring PULSE to live stages this fall with a series of shows at iconic venues, including New York’s Forest Hills Stadium, Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Seattle’s WAMU Theater, and Minneapolis’ The Armory, with more dates to be announced.
