COUNTDOWN NYE | 5 Artists That Will Set the New Year on Fire…[Playlists Inside]

by The Freaks - Staff

As 2018 comes to a end, I reflect back on all the amazing shows and festivals I’ve attended this year. I’ve been very fortunate to be able to attend some of the biggest festivals on the west coast in 2018, but there’s still so much I missed. In 2019 I’m broadening my horizons and attending smaller more intimate festivals along with my usual big festivals. Countdown is my first festival of 2019 and has a killer line up with a ton of artist on my must see in 2019 list. Here are just a few..

Alison Wonderland

Allison has been an artist on the rise for a few years now.  I can say from personal experience, I have seen her play quite a few times and she never falls short of giving an incredible experience. From the world down under Sydney, Australia she grew up playing classical cello, and even performed in the Sydney Youth Opera. Later Alison found herself playing bass guitar for a few indie bands. In 2017 she was awarded New Artist of the Year at the Electronic Music Awards. Wonderland writes and sings her own songs; clearly, the award was well deserved. Catch Alison Wonderland playing at the Nebula stage.

Zedd

The first big festival I ever attended was Summer Set where he was one of the headliners. Prior to that event, I hadn’t heard much of his music before but I fell in love with him right then and there. Zedd primarily produces and performs electro house, however, is also a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. His music career really took off in 2012 when he released Clarity and has been hitting the top of music charts all around the world since.

Dillon Francis

Dillon Francis is another must see! If you haven’t seen his production before you cannot miss this set. He is one silly guy and always throws down the best sets. He is known for popularizing the moombahton genre. Dillon has been producing music since 2010 consistently. During 2018 he released a lot of new music that I cannot wait to see live. I will be making sure to stop by The Mothership for this set.

Snails

Snails had his second Shell tour this year which I sadly missed, so I’m looking forward to finally catching his set on the Area 51 stage. Snails music style has been described as vomit step, featuring guttural bass gurgles, crushing 808s and synthesizers. He started releasing music in 2012 and has collaborated with some of the biggest named producers worldwide since.

Shiba San

Shiba San is one of my favorite house producers, I’ve seen him a hundred times in the last few years. He’s a resident in my hometown of Seattle so I was given the luxury of seeing him multiple times a year at my favorite local club. He primarily releases music under Dirtybird records along with some of the best house DJs in the world.

I hope to see you guys there! If you haven’t purchased tickets yet click the flyer below.
