Can we just?!? Have you seen the Countdown NYE line up?? Have you checked out Insomniac’s Offical Trailer? ARE YOU READY TO BE ABDUCTED?? Grab the bottles of champagne and start popping, its about to get weird!!
Insomniac is back at it again and reminds us that life may be hard but…JUST DANCE. Ringing in the New Year with their 5th annual single-day event, Countdown NYE, held at San Bernardino’s NOS Event Center on Monday, December 31st from 5pm-2am.
With Throwback Thursday upon us, I can still feel the vibrations from Insomniacs Halloween event, Escape: Psycho Circus. Each day had its own spook & thrill to add to the phenomenal 2-day extravaganza. Full of eye capturing art and decorations, amazing performers both on stage and off, to surprise appearances like Kayzo bringing out Underoath on Saturday night to finish off the set. Absolutely thrilled I am able to come back to the same venue to close out the year with Countdown NYE.
Be sure to expect the normal amenities Insomniac provides such as water stations, food & drink, and lockers for $25. Recent knowledge to me, there is even a general store within the walls of Countdown! From items such as flip-flops to eye drops, they truly have your back to keep you comfortable. In the Classified VIP sections, they are offering fun activities, a hookah lounge, and champagne for a midnight toast. If you’re looking for a more interstellar experience, check out the Sky Deck options for premium viewing and a nice place to sit when your feet wear out or the drinks wear off.
As for the extraterrestrial line up this year’s Countdown NYE is beaming at us, it was hard to find a place to start. Guided by the stars my eyes were led to The Mothership stage hosting Dutch DJ’s, and veterans to the industry: Afrojack and Tiësto; There is much to be said for these two, and sure it already has been. Alongside the two mentors of the game is NY based DJ and Producer CID. Coming in as one of Insomniac’s Top 5 Must-See Acts on the bill, and the 2013 Grammy Award Winner for his work on the delightful, Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness”. Looking forward to seeing what type of mind abducting beats he will slap out for us this time. The Mothership is accompanied by three other stages with elevating lineups.
Teleport on over to AREA 51 hosted by Bassrush for what is no doubt going to be a force field of filth. What a way to end the year and start the next by wrenching your neck to some of Snails, “vomit step” or vibing what ZEDD is laying down. Also featured on this stage is Dion Timmer who opened for Excisions 2017 tour, just being shy of 18 years old. Stayed tuned for what this baby Alien has in store this next year, including a possible collaboration with Snails. Maybe they will grace us with a surprise B2B set to close out the year at Countdown NYE.
The events line up is truly out of this world continuing with favorites: RL Grime, Alison Wonderland, and Party Favor at The Nebula stage. Countdown NYE will be keeping us busy running from stage to stage- I don’t think anyone has forgotten how bone-chillingly cold last year was, and it is sure to be a repeat.
I will leave you with my three pro tips:
1. Bring a Camelbak, something like it, or a water bottle with a clip. Stay hydrated, not broke.
2. Keep some money on you for when the cold sets in and your pride fades away. Time to cover up your cute outfit? Head to one of the many unique vendors or the Merchandise tent.
3. Stay Ready.
a. Insomniac has provided us an Official SoundCloud playlist which has songs from each artist on the bill to keep our hearts yearning for the vibes.
b. Follow all social outlets for Countdown NYE to receive updates on set times, general information, and alien coded messages.
Like most of the industry’s leaders events go: tickets, hotel blocks, shuttles, and packages will likely sell out. Be ahead of the invasion and get your tickets now; 33 days and counting until we enter into another dimension, one of imagination and exploration, a twilight zone of its own to start a New Year together under the sky & stars.
Goodbye for now fellow earthlings.
