Commissioned Art Gives Back to Sherwood | Road to Electric Forest Decade One

by The Freaks - Staff

Here we are, welcoming ten enchanting years of Electric Forest and I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this special occasion. Aside from the top-notch, diverse lineup, Electric Forest always does its part to give back to the world and community. Throughout the year as we anticipate our return back home, HQ will be releasing various pieces of art from live painters with the idea of creatively capturing the aura of forest. These hand-selected artists will truly get to showcase their perception of the evolution of Electric Forest, and, it’s all for a good cause. Pieces will be auctioned off and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the charity of the artists’ choosing.

An introduction to their first artist, Jason Aponte:  His technique is made up of a contemporary lifestyle, with a realistic take coupled with an abstract flair. Jason is geared towards influencing the interpreter’s emotions. He comments on what makes this special to him, “I am extremely excited to be connected to Electric Forest because I admire its vision,  I identify with music as a universal language (and a requirement while I paint in the studio), and I appreciate this festival as an outlet through which individuals can express themselves. The lights, colors, sculptures, costumes all create textures that you cannot experience in the daily grind of life, truly making it easy to draw inspiration” It’s a powerful truth and captures the essence we strive to embody for this four-day experience.

Jason’s piece is listed at $3,050 and a portion of that will be donated to the Scleroderma Foundation. For more information on Jason, you can visit his website, artist collective, or check out his residency at Bakehouse Art Complex located in Wynwood that is recognized as THE place during Miami Art Basel Week beginning this year on December 5th.
