Coheed and Cambria Release Politically-Charged Animated Holiday Video for “One Last Miracle”

Modern progressive alternative rock band Coheed and Cambria have unveiled an animated holiday music video for their track “One Last Miracle,” featured on their acclaimed 2025 album The Father of Make Believe, released via Virgin. The video, developed by frontman Claudio Sanchez and directed by Alek Wasilewski, centers on Santa Claus receiving a letter from a child whose mother was taken by ICE, pleading for her safe return for Christmas.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind the video, Sanchez comments, “The algorithm knows what bothers me. The non-stop scrolling through families being violently torn apart, children abandoned to fend for themselves, while their mothers are violently dragged away by men three times their size is upsetting. No political agenda is worth this twist of humanity’s moral compass. If there is a God… I guarantee you… she doesn’t approve.”

The visuals for “One Last Miracle” serve as a sequel to Coheed and Cambria’s 2019 holiday video The Unheavenly Christmas Carol, the official video for their song “Toys.” Whereas Santa previously attempted to teach an orange-colored, fascist-leaning president a lesson, the new installment sees the stakes elevated: teaming up with his usually evil cousin Krampus, Santa now seeks to rescue the child’s mother and confront systemic injustices.

In addition to the video, Sanchez and his book production house, Evil Ink, have announced a multi-book publishing partnership with Rare Bird Literature, marking a new era for The Amory Wars universe. The collaboration begins with redesigned and expanded editions of Year of the Black Rainbow (Book One), now available for early preorder. This will be followed by a unique continuation co-written by Claudio Sanchez and Kevin J. Anderson (Dune, Star Wars, X-Files, Clockwork Angels with Neal Peart) with The Second Stage Turbine Blade (Book Two) expected in Fall 2026. Pre-orders for Year of the Black Rainbow are live HERE.

The “One Last Miracle” video highlights Coheed and Cambria’s continued fusion of music, narrative, and social commentary. Fans can also explore the recently released deluxe edition of The Father of Make Believe, which expands on the band’s rich storytelling and conceptual universe.
