City Hearts Returns to L.A. This Weekend | Things May Get Emotional!

by The Freaks - Staff

City Hearts takes over El Pueblo Historical Park in Los Angeles this weekend, November 9th & 10th, 2019 and “Papa” Lee Reynolds is feeling some kind of way about it!

City Hearts is the lovechild of eclectic west coast party collective, Desert Hearts, who have been throwing parties in the San Diego desert for the better part of ten years with their official festival kicking off in 2012.

“It’s crazy to think what an amazing community has formed around this concept of spreading as much love in the world as possible,” Reynolds says, reflecting on the first Desert Hearts.

“The community of creative, compassionate, and positive people that’s grown with us is what makes us most proud. When we come together it almost always brings me to tears and strengthens my belief that anything is possible,” he says.

In 2017, after five years of Desert Hearts debauchery, the crew decided to bring the spirit of the desert into the heart of Los Angeles with a one-day micro-fest that became the inaugural City Hearts Festival. While 2018 saw City Hearts parties in San Francisco and Las Vegas, this year the boys decided to bring the party back home to SoCal and have added a whole second day to the schedule!

“Desert Hearts is absolutely everything to me and the boys. We’ve poured our hearts and souls into this project and intend to keep spreading the love as far and wide as possible without forgetting our roots in California. That’s why we’re so excited to bring CIty Hearts Festival to downtown LA,” says Reynolds.

City Hearts 2019 lineup

The lineup is well balanced and saturated with talent, featuring veteran DJs Doc Martin and Tiga as well as more up and coming talent that includes Patrick Topping, wAFF, J Philip, Rybo, and Lubelski, to name a few. And those are all obviously in addition to the fab four that make up the soul of Desert Hearts, Lee Reynolds, Mikey Lion, Marbs, and Porky!

While just the music from that lineup is enough to keep me happy, if you know anything about these hearts, you know that they would never throw a party without wild and wonderful visual stimulation everywhere, which will come from themed camps, installations, live art, and food and craft vendors, and all the other things that make Desert Hearts feel like home.

Tickets for the two-day house and techno love extravaganza can still be purchased here.

If you can’t make it to City Hearts this weekend, don’t worry, Lee and the boys are hitting the road in November and you can catch them at the following shows:
