Acclaimed Cuban-American brother duo Calussa—comprised of Gino and Andrew Gomez—unveils the next phase of their creative journey with the launch of NUSONIDO, a brand-new label debuting with the White Tiger EP, in collaboration with rising Australian producer Ben Miller. Out now on all platforms, the release marks a bold redefinition of the duo’s evolving sonic identity.
Derived from a blend of English and Spanish, NUSONIDO translates loosely to “new sound,” and serves as a fresh creative outlet that reflects Calussa’s deep-rooted Miami heritage and global influences. The label is a pivot from their previous imprint Hurry Up Slowly, moving away from an Afro house focus toward a broader, house-driven sound that incorporates tech house, tribal rhythms, and Latin grooves.
“This is the perfect time to start something new,” says Gino Gomez. “We’re playing a different kind of music in our sets, and we’re inspired by a fresh sound that didn’t quite fit with the identity of our old label. NUSONIDO gives us a clean slate.”
Adds Andrew Gomez, “Hurry Up Slowly became more of one thing — Afro house — while this new label gives us space to explore multiple genres through a house lens.”
Setting the tone for what’s to come, the White Tiger EP features two sleek, club-ready cuts produced with Ben Miller, a rising talent known for his affiliation with Chris Lake’s creative circle. The A-side, “The Power,” brims with hypnotic, tribal percussion and sultry, steamy energy, while the title track “White Tiger” leans into funkier, bounce-heavy territory with infectious grooves and crisp production.
“These tracks show the side of us we want people to hear more of,” Andrew explains. “They bring in that early 2000s house vibe but feel current and club-ready.”
With plans to shift into a weekly release schedule post-summer, NUSONIDO aims to become a home not just for Calussa’s forward-thinking sound, but for a global community of artists crafting genre-blending, percussion-driven house music with flavor and depth.
