Phoenix duo By Storm, formed by former Injury Reserve members RiTchie and Parker Corey, have announced their debut album My Ghosts Go Ghost, set for release on January 30 via deadAir. The announcement follows an open letter shared with fans, where the duo outlined the vision behind the project and teased its lead single, “And I Dance.”
“And I Dance” arrives across all streaming platforms at midnight Eastern and is accompanied by a striking visual directed by Parker Corey. The video centers on an emphatic, emotionally charged performance from RiTchie, gradually escalating as layers of noise and strobing lights blur the line between night and morning, culminating in a powerful release that mirrors the song’s intensity.
RiTchie and Parker Corey first introduced By Storm in 2023 as the next evolution of their decade-long creative partnership, debuting the project with “Double Trio.” The track served both as a tribute to their former group Injury Reserve—which included the late Steppa J. Groggs—and as a statement of intent for their future as a duo. Subsequent releases, including “Zig Zag” and “In My Town,” continued to define the exploratory nature of By Storm, laying the foundation for a sound that felt both unbound and forward-looking.
While My Ghosts Go Ghost is technically By Storm’s first full-length album, it represents a continuation rather than a clean break. The record reflects a creative journey that spans more than a decade, shaped by constant self-examination and evolution through music, whether under the name Injury Reserve, By Storm, or through solo work. The album features a single guest appearance from acclaimed rapper and lyricist billy woods.
“This past decade we built our identity and every record has been us figuring out more about the kind of band we want to be,” explains RiTchie. “That doesn’t change.”
My Ghosts Go Ghost captures the culmination of years spent refining not only their sound, but their understanding of what it means to close one creative chapter and open another. Returning to basics with a newly solidified musical identity, the duo crafted nine focused tracks that define this era. The album collides the sharp realism of RiTchie’s songwriting with the abstract, unpredictable terrain of Parker Corey’s production, creating a body of work that looks ahead rather than lingering on the past.
The themes woven throughout the album address loss, new fatherhood, capitalism, and the shifting balance of lived experience. Inspiration struck after an impromptu DJ set in Stockholm went off the rails in 2019, forcing the duo to improvise. That spirit of spontaneity guided the creation of My Ghosts Go Ghost. Throughout 2025, By Storm debuted material in various stages of completion during live shows in Phoenix, London, Los Angeles, and New York, using real-time audience feedback to shape the final versions of the songs.
With My Ghosts Go Ghost, By Storm emerge fully realized, channeling the lessons of their past into a present-focused, uncompromising statement of intent. The album arrives January 30 via deadAir.
