Renowned Bristol-born DJ and producer Jody Wisternoff has announced the release of his highly anticipated third studio album, Welcome To My World. Alongside the album announcement, Wisternoff has unveiled its lead single, ‘Mui,’ a collaboration with James Grant, PROFF, and award-winning composer Takeshi Furukawa, featuring the evocative vocals of Siobhan Wilson.
Wisternoff, a seminal figure in the UK rave scene since the early ’90s, is well known for his sharp talent scouting and his role in curating the acclaimed Anjunadeep label’s annual compilation series. His career began at the age of 13 when he was a finalist in the DMC World DJ Championship in 1986. He went on to become a fixture of the UK’s rave culture, performing at iconic venues such as Lakota Club in Bristol and for legendary promoters like Fantazia and Universe.
His career trajectory shifted after a chance meeting with Nick Warren, leading to the formation of the legendary duo Way Out West, which produced several UK chart-toppers, including the dance number one hit ‘Mindcircus’. Their 1997 self-titled album was both a critical and commercial success, followed two decades later by their beloved Anjunadeep album, Tuesday Maybe, which featured popular reworks from the likes of Guy J and Ben Böhmer.
Following the success of his two solo studio albums on Anjunadeep, including the widely acclaimed Nightwhisper, which earned over 20 million streams, Wisternoff is now set to push the boundaries further with Welcome To My World. The new album reflects the rich tapestry of musical influences that have defined his career, spanning 14 tracks filled with his signature emotional melodies, complex production techniques, and dynamic breaks.
‘Mui,’ the album’s lead single, offers a fresh reimagining of Takeshi Furukawa’s ‘Shutdown,’ originally composed for the Planet of Lana video game. Inspired by Siobhan Wilson‘s soulful vocal delivery, Wisternoff, alongside James Grant and PROFF, transformed the track into an unforgettable fan favorite, previously featured on Anjunadeep 15.
The album promises several standout tracks, including ‘Tales From Beyond’ with Nox Vahn and Natascha Polke, ‘Rain’ featuring Sian Evans, and ‘Ease Yourself’, all showcasing Wisternoff’s masterful production style, which continues to garner praise from industry heavyweights such as Eelke Kleijn, John Digweed, Nora En Pure, and Chicane.
In support of Welcome To My World, Jody Wisternoff has announced an extensive global tour across 29 dates in North America, the UK, Asia, and Australia, with stops in major cities like London, New York, Los Angeles, and Sydney. Tickets are available now.
Welcome To My World will be released on December 6 via Anjunadeep.
