It is with the heaviest of hearts that we bring you the news of Keith Flint’s passing. The unapologetically unique frontman of The Prodigy was found dead in his home on Monday morning at age 49. The loss for the rave community is immeasurable, as Flint was not only one of the pioneers of the underground rave scene, but also one of its strongest advocates. He was a dancer, singer and all around creative soul whose captivating stage performances made him one of electronic music‘s earliest and most memorable personalities. Sporting a bleached double mohawk, eyeliner, and full body tattoos, Flint literally and proverbially danced on the line between electronic and metal, converting fans on both sides.
The Essex Police confirmed Flint’s death, issuing the following statement: “We were called to concerns for the welfare of a man at an address in Brook Hill, North End, just after 8.10am on Monday March 4th. We attended and sadly a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
A few hours ago, fellow founding member Liam Howlett confirmed Flint’s cause of death as suicide in a post on The Prodigy’s Instagram
