Montreal-based bass architect borne makes a powerful return to NIGHTMODE with “Hold Me Down”, a stripped-back dubstep roller that hits digital shelves on June 6. Following the success of “Go Again”, this new single reinforces borne’s signature sound—minimalist, deliberate, and devastatingly effective.

Opening with eerie organ chords and a ghostly vocal loop, “Hold Me Down” evokes the spirit of classic UK dub, drawing listeners into a cinematic calm before the storm. The serenity doesn’t last—borne detonates the drop with snarling subs, razor-sharp percussion, and a sub-frequency groove designed to rattle ribcages. It’s 140 dubstep boiled down to its rawest form, built on flow, space, and surgical bassweight.

“This track is my take on the more stripped-down and flow-heavy 140 dubstep sound,” says borne. “I was inspired by OG dubstep and wanted to inject some soul into the intro for a fresh take on a timeless style.”

The release is another benchmark in borne’s fast-rising trajectory. With early support from Billboard, UKF, and EDM.com, and tastemaker spins from Don Diablo, Curtis Jay, and Judge Jules, borne has already turned heads across the scene. With upcoming performances at Illfest, Shambhala, and Hulaween, he’s carving out a lane that bridges experimental depth with festival-scale impact.

Across Spotify (Sub Low, Dubstep Don, UK Bass Music) and Apple Music (Breaking Dance, Heavy Hitters), borne’s DSP presence continues to grow, further amplified by chart placements on Beatport and a spotlight in SoundCloud’s New Bass Heat series.

“Hold Me Down” doesn’t just cement borne’s place in the 140 conversation—it expands it. Through restraint, atmosphere, and bassline mastery, borne proves once again that sometimes the heaviest tracks come from the most minimal elements.
