Dirtybird mainstays Black V Neck and Life On Planets have joined forces on a playful yet hard-hitting new single, “Drip Drop (Handle That),” out now as part of the label’s 20th anniversary celebrations.

Created during Dirtybird’s inaugural Flight Week writing camp in San Francisco, the track embodies the collaborative spirit that fueled the sessions. Spiraling with siren-like synths, cheeky lyrics, and pulsing house grooves, “Drip Drop (Handle That)” blends Black V Neck’s signature rhythms with Life On Planets’ smooth, flirtatious vocal delivery. The result is a dancefloor weapon that channels Dirtybird’s ethos of experimentation and eccentricity.

In June, Dirtybird introduced Flight Week, a week-long celebration of music, creativity, and community that culminated in the Back 2 Baysics outdoor concert at Embarcadero Plaza. The event brought together more than a dozen Dirtybird artists at EMPIRE Studios and featured activations with the San Francisco Giants, Midnight Runners Club, clothing brand San Franpsycho, and local restaurants offering limited-edition Dirtybird menu items. “Drip Drop (Handle That)” now stands as the first release born out of those sessions.

Hailing from Miami, Black V Neck (duo Ian and Julian) exemplify the label’s dedication to nurturing its talent. First appearing on Birdfeed in 2018 with “Stop ‘N Go,” the duo quickly graduated to the main label in 2019 with their Mouth Music EP. They’ve since released the Bounce EP in 2020, appeared on the 2021 Campout Compilation, and helped kick off this year’s anniversary celebrations with Check My Brain,” the label’s first release of 2025. This weekend, the pair will take the stage at Dirtybird CampINN in Orlando, FL.

Life On Planets, born and raised in Baltimore, has steadily carved out his place as one of Dirtybird’s most distinctive voices. First appearing on Lubelski’s hit “Ice Cream Cone,” he’s become a regular at Dirtybird festivals and events, recognized for his eclectic blend of R&B, hip-hop, and house. Beyond the Dirtybird flock, his unique sound has caught the attention of Walker & Royce, Soul Clap, Archie Hamilton, and Moody Jones, with releases on labels including Defected, Rules Don’t Apply, Desert Hearts, Solotoko, and Young Art. Earlier this summer, he brought his energy to Dirtybird Campout x Northern Nights and the second annual Back To Baysics.
