Audien’s Uplifting Escapism Tour | A Magical Journey [Recap]

by The Freaks - Staff

Audiens Escapism tour would be the debut venue for him to premiere his new EP Escapism. Introduced with feel-good jams from Codeko, this tour was aimed to please, as they took the wheel down a road of pleasure, fantasy and alternate realities creating a perfect contrast.

Codeko, a producer and composer known for his classical music background and studying at Cambridge University, provided an uplifting introduction to the night playing tracks which included his own remixes and songs like Hyperparadise by Hermitude (Flume Remix), Boca Chica (Francisco Baldi Remix), Layzor (Benjamin Bates), Woke Up (Codeko Feat. Xuitcasecity), Save the World (BARE Remix) and Lunar (Codeko), Everytime (Toby Green), This is My Style (Carlos Dancer) and Labyrinth of Colors (Sensis Sunset Remix -Kamil Esten).

Codeko’s overall tone created excitement and triggered my Techno senses as his curation of music made me want to sing. I was blown away by his abilities and wasn’t surprised that he was on this tour as the perfect act to play before the headliner. Codeko’s musical versatility was apparent as the accomplished musician infused Trance, Trap, and House for a set that pulsed with energy, fun and creativity. This set was all about celebrating the joys of life and how music is so much a part of that for all of us.

Audien took the stage and right away started with one of his songs from his new EP, See you on the other side. Like pennies from heaven, we were taken into the clouds and beyond as his song played a gentle and intimate transition into what would be an intelligently and emotionally produced set. Audien followed with Heaven which gave a deep sense of that feeling of wanting to have some type of interaction with the other side. Also featured was Arty’s Save Me Tonight (with the artist making a guest appearance), Never Letting Go (Audien & Arty) and Hindsight (Audien) creating a melancholic mood but also that dreamy feeling of love and hopefulness that Audien’s music evokes.

With complete control, Audien took his music and provided the listeners with reassurance as he continued to play his classic hits along with his new material. I sang along to Message, still one of my favorite Audien tunes, and I couldn’t stop jumping up and down with joy as it filled my heart. With talent and feelings all around Audien’s mission was to give us the time of our lives that night and he did so by providing so many wonderful tunes.  I felt like I was floating on air. Audien takes the unknown and unspoken concerns in our lives and legitimizes their existence with anthems that express their truth. And if that wasn’t enough, he provides an area where we can find some peace and realness with dealing with it all.

Hearing his uplifting melodies brought me to new heights and I didn’t want to come down. We were escaping with Audien to a realm that helps us all, and one that through his music, Audien is trying to define.  While his music does provide a mode for escapism, the beats are almost celebratory as if some realization has happened during the process that can be equated to this stellar EP release that is even more spectacular to listen to live. Listening to Audien in concert is going to be a feeling that you will love! This music will bring you to that place we’ve all been looking for.

Paying homage to his Anjunafamily roots, Cosmic Heaven and other artists with his clever mashups, Audien created music that was pure gold. Playing Van Halen’s Jump, it’s undeniable that the original has appeal… his remix makes it sound fresh even to me, someone who has played that song a million times. He took these mashups and put them on a symphonic level. Audien showed he can bring down the house with a myriad of EDM genres effortlessly even providing bangers to close out the night.
