The trance family of New York City got a taste of a very special treat last night with a surprise set from the likes of none other than, Armin van Buuren!
100 lucky contestants had the opportunity to be a part of a uniquely intimate experience with Armin van Buuren, where they would have the chance to watch a live interview of Mr. ASOT himself and a one hour set to cap off the night.
Up-close and personal!
To lead off the night full of thrills, Armin took the stage with Sirius XM for an exclusive interview. The first question even threw me for a loop as it was revealed that Armin’s full name is actually Armin Jozef Jacobus Daniël van Buuren — imagine if he chose that to be his DJ moniker!
The next question lead Armin Jozef Jacobus Daniël van Buuren (okay, I’ll stop calling him that now) to talk about his hometown, Leiden and how he was born and raised there, had his first record published living there and even had his FIRST KISS there! No wonder his journeys through life brought him back to his hometown to raise his own family.
Armin loves his fans to the moon and back.
Some of the most exciting news that we procured from this insightful interview were pieces of information about some upcoming ventures. We’ve all heard about the upcoming Gaia album for the past two years, but now we can finally say that it is coming to fruition — ‘Moons of Jupiter’ will see the light of day in June!
Speaking of moons, Armin is going to be taking it to the moon with ASOT 1000. Mark your calendars because the 20th anniversary of A State of Trance will be taking place on January 21, 2021 (or 1/21/21 … 12121, that’s pretty cool). And this isn’t just going to be a celebration of the radioshow; it’s going to be a celebration of trance — the music that has brought us together for the past 20 years.
Put your ‘Phone Down’ and listen to the music.
Wow! Right?! Yea, I thought the same thing! Onward and forward though, Armin took no time before he could ‘Jump’ behind the decks and start his set. There were a couple new IDs that even I can’t begin to guess who they’re by. But one ID that was played was ‘Revolution’ (feat. Karra), an upcoming collaboration between Luke Bond and Armin van Buuren. What a cheeky banger!
This was quite the set with recent hit tracks like ‘Turn It Up’, ‘Don’t Give Up On Me’ and our favorite — ‘Great Spirit’. One track that really stood out to me was at the very end. It was a remix from an unknown (for now) producer of the legendary track, ‘Communication’. What a way to end a surprise set! My mind was blown!! You can have your own chance at seeing the man, the myth, the legend, Armin van Buuren by catching him on tour this summer.
