Adam F Unveils ‘Colours Revisited’—A Tribute to Drum ‘n’ Bass History and MC Conrad’s Legacy

by Press Release

Legendary drum ‘n’ bass Adam F breathes new life into his acclaimed 1997 with ‘Colours Revisited’, a reimagined version of the MOBO Award-winning project. The reworked pays homage to the past while bringing it into the present, with Adam meticulously revisiting each track over two years. In contrast to simply remastering, Adam fully re-recorded the tracks, restoring vintage instruments like his Fender Rhodes piano and collaborating with jazz greats like Julian Joseph. Vocalists such as Kirsty Hawkshaw and the late MC Conrad re-recorded their iconic parts, and new solos from world-class musicians add fresh dimensions to the original sounds.

Among the standout reworked tracks is ‘F-Jam Revisited’, featuring MC Conrad, whose passing in May marked a heartbreaking loss for the drum ‘n’ bass community. The reimagined ‘F-Jam’ captures the essence of Conrad’s influential role in the genre, showcasing his powerful rap alongside re-recorded live instruments such as trumpet, percussion, guitar, and flute.

Adam F reflects on his long-time collaborator, stating:

“Conrad’s like the Pharoahe Monch of drum ‘n’ bass—a true lyricist. MCs are part of the vibe of the whole scene, and Conrad was such a unique and friend.”

In a poignant tribute, Adam and Conrad performed ‘F-Jam Revisited’ live at London’s E1 before Conrad’s tragic passing, leaving fans with memories to cherish.

In addition to ‘F-Jam Revisited’, Adam F has enlisted top-tier talents from the drum ‘n’ bass and jungle scenes to contribute to the ‘Colours Revisited’ reboot. Artists like Bladerunner (who delivered an electrifying remix of ‘Brand New Funk Revisited’), DJ Marky & Makoto, and jungle veteran Nookie have all added their unique spins to the project. Adam F also released his much-anticipated ‘Circles Revisited’, giving fans a fresh take on one of the most beloved tracks in the genre.

‘Colours Revisited’ will be available as a 3LP in black or transparent red, with all orders including a download card for previously released rebooted tracks. The double-disc CD version will feature the revisited album alongside unreleased tracks and exclusive live performances.

For drum ‘n’ bass enthusiasts and MC Conrad fans alike, ‘F-Jam Revisited’ is set to release on October 17th via 181 Recordings, ahead of the full ‘Colours Revisited’ album, which will drop on February 21, 2025.
